SHARING THE FOLLOWING FROM KEN PRESLEY, UMA

As most of you are aware, the 2024 Bus & Motorcoach Industry Fly-in will take place March 19-20 in Washington, DC. Many thanks to those that have already registered!

State and regional associations have been integral to this event, carrying the message to your elected leaders in the U.S. House and Senate how the motorcoach industry plays an integral and often critical role in our nation’s transportation system. In past years we have enjoyed your support and participation, and we hope we see representatives from your association. Many years ago, some associations began subsidizing travel for at least two representatives to attend. We hope you can continue this practice. This year is a pivotal opportunity to build goodwill with legislators as we are setting the stage for the next surface transportation reauthorization bill. We must anticipate the next bill will include increased financial responsibility (insurance) limits, modifications to the charter rule in a manner that will allow public transits to take more of your business, technology mandates for motorcoaches, including retrofits, just to name a few.

This year’s Bus & Motorcoach Industry Fly-in will follow the traditional timetable with updates, training, logistics, and the photo on the Capitol steps Tuesday afternoon. Of course, Wednesday is appointments all day with our traditional wrap-up session at 4:00 PM. We are using the Kellogg Conference Hotel located “in the heart of Washington DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood” in an area referred to as NoMa (North Massachusetts Ave) near Union Station and Capitol Hill on the Gallaudet University.

REGISTER TODAY:

The hotel cutoff date is February 21, so we extended the registration deadline through February 21. Registration link: https://uma.org/uma-legislative-fly-in/

We hope that PBA Members will take this opportunity to take our messages to the Hill! I hope we see you in D.C. next month…with your comfortable walking shoes!
