Lots to get excited about as summer heads towards fall as we do business here in the county. The excitement (and nervousness) have been palpable around our place the last few days as we helped prepare our newly minted high schooler for his journey. I’m sure he isn’t thinking about what comes after that in 4 years but your Board of Trade is as we get ready for our second skilled trades event in November. You’ll see plenty on our website and social media channels in the coming days and weeks. Please help spread the word so that we can build on the success of our first event.
The excitement is building too for the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo coming up on September 19th to 23rd. It will without a doubt put Bowling Green on the map! Congratulations to the event organizers who have done so much work to bring this event to our area. It has taken an immense amount of work to get it to this point and there will be an army of volunteers to make the event a success while it is taking place. This event will have a large impact on the local community and shine a spotlight on all that our local agricultural community has to offer.
Those of us who attended the annual Dufferin Board of Trade a few weeks back were treated to a great day of golf fun. Tim Venn, Meaghan Young and their committee of 6 along with DBOT staffers Diana Morris, Jaemilyn Gavino, Lucy Gallagher, Charley Post and Declan Kenny hosted a fantastic event with lots of fun games and fellowship. Thank-you as well to the many sponsors who supported this event. A final shout out to Dave Holwell for his hole in one at the tournament. I have golfed with Dave in the past and it’s great to hear that smooth swing of his paid off with a once in a lifetime shot.
Have a great month doing business in the county!
