Greetings,

Let me begin this month by congratulating those newly elected municipal politicians on their recent victories. We look forward to working with all of you as we move forward business issues in Dufferin County. Thanks as well to all that ran who weren’t successful. We were lucky locally to have so many strong campaigns and new ideas presented. Change doesn’t always come from those that succeed in elections but certainly is impacted by all of those that run.

The Dufferin Tourism Trails campaign will remain particularly active during November. Watch the website and your email for additional training sessions in November. The consumer advertising component of the Tourism Trails campaign will also begin in November.

On an administrative note from the office they still have rapid test kits available should your business require them. We are also encouraging members to try the space at the Biz Hub by offering a 25% discount on new rentals in November.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce did a good job of promoting small business week throughout the province during the third week of October. The theme of the campaign this year was, Small Business: Too big to Ignore!. In a press release OCC President Rocco Rossi remined us that “98 % of all employer businesses in Canada are small businesses, yet they continue to face unique challenges related to accessing talent, capital, and markets. It is more important than ever that public policy focuses on removing red tape and other barriers to ensure they can continue to support our labour market and economy.”

DBOT will continue to support these initiatives from OCC on your behalf. We are far enough through the pandemic that simply surviving should no longer be the goal for small business. For all of us now should be the time to thrive!
