I really hope that business is strong for everyone doing business in Dufferin County.

It was great for the little more than 100 folks that were able to join us for our AGM followed by the Business Excellence Awards a little more than a week back. It was wonderful to attend such a great event and celebrate all that our business community has to offer. Certainly, we congratulate all of the winners but also all of the nominees as well. There were many stories throughout the evening of all of the successes that those in our local business community are having and the support they are receiving from the community at large. It was great that this event was back in person, hopefully, those in attendance left motivated and inspired as I did.

We certainly need to thank Diana, Lucy, Jaemilyn and the caterers Lavender Blue for the success of the event. There was just an immense amount of work that went into the event behind the scenes, and they pulled it off seamlessly through their efforts.

DBOT doesn’t rest for the summer. DBOT has 2 summer students starting with us soon – one is a Digital Journalist who will be available to do interviews and photos with members for our new blog articles, and the other will be doing community photos and videos. If you would like to use their services to help promote your business (for free!), they can be booked through the office. We are able to provide this service due to the Canada Summer Jobs grant program.

Your golf committee is also busy planning what I’m sure will be a spectacular event. This year’s tournament will be held on Thursday, August 24th, at the Shelburne Golf Course. It’s been a while since OPC has made it onto the trophy so I plan on working on my game lots when I’m on holidays the week before. This event is always the highlight of the local golf tournament season. I hope you can make it and enjoy lots of fun with a little friendly competition mixed in too!

I’d better leave you here as I need to print this and run it around the corner to the DBOT office. Unfortunately, that still remains a faster option than the “high speed” we enjoy here on Main Street Mono.

Sincerely,

Doug Harkness
Chair, Dufferin Board of Trade
