Your board of trade held a well attended “State of Dufferin” breakfast last Thursday, January 26th at Monora Park Pavillion. The large snow fall from the evening before did not keep many away from this interesting and engaging event. The event began with a panel discussion featuring Dufferin-Caledon MP Kyle Seeback as well as MPP Sylvia Jones. We were pleased that both could take time from their busy schedules, MP Seeback had to catch a flight back to Ottawa immediately after the event while Deputy Premier and Health Minister Jones is decidedly busy with her new duties. Questions from the moderator and the floor were decidedly Dufferin in flavour and there would have been many more if time had permitted.

The second forum was moderated by DBOT director and former Orangeville Mayor Sandy Brown featuring former Dufferin County Warden and current Melancthon Mayor Darren White along with Orangeville Mayor Lisa Post. The discussion was a wide-ranging one on issues that are of current impact to both Orangeville and Dufferin County as a whole. The crowd was clearly engaged given the large number of questions from the floor.

Thanks go out to Diana Morris for pulling the event together, as well as Lavender Blue for providing a delicious breakfast.

Following the event, DBOT released its revamped annual survey. The survey only takes about 5 minutes to complete and will go a long way in helping DBOT to determine how to best advocate on your behalf. You can find the survey HERE.
