I’m sitting at my desk this morning looking out for inspiration at Main Street Mono watching many of the commuters fly by southbound. It’s kind of like the winter, those of us in the precast industry get a little break before spring hits and we need to get up to the speed or better of those commuters. I’d better get back at the task at hand. Those busy days will be here before I know it.

I hope that you had a chance to attend the State of Business Dufferin event a few weeks back. Thanks to MP Seeback and MPP Jones along with our excellent panel of mayors who made this such a fantastic event. We are lucky to be represented by so many knowledgeable and engaged politicians in our area. This was clear by just how deftly they were all able to handle questions from DBOT and the floor throughout the event. Being able to think on ones feet is a skill many of us wish to be better at but to be able to handle such a broad range of questions was impressive. Thanks as always to Diana Morris and her staff at the DBOT office for pulling the event altogether. Great catering job by Lavender Blue as always despite my disappointment that the pastries were in fact quiche and not butter tarts as I had initially thought.

Our next big event is the Industry Luncheon on February 20th at the Oak Room at the Fairgrounds. DBOT hosts this event along with our partners the Rotary Club of Orangeville and the Greater Dufferin Home Builders Association. You can register now on the DBOT website and there are still a host of many great sponsorship opportunities. Those of us on the organizing committee had the opportunity to meet this years speaker Mark Cohon on a zoom call last week and it has left me really looking forward to his talk. Mark is an entrepreneur that is carving out a very interesting career that has included a stop as commissioner of the CFL. He has made a great mark on his own while living under the huge shadow of his father George of McDonald’s Canada fame. It is sure to be a great event.

Have a great month and if I don’t see you at the Industry Luncheon I hope we’ll see you elsewhere around the county!
