Greetings DBOT members and friends,
I hope that everyone is summering well, busy in their business and getting some well deserved time off to relax and enjoy the season. I am counting the days when Snowflake, Bamm-Bamm, Pebbles and I head out for our next adventure. We’re planning on a little golf, lots of canoeing and ATVing, activities that outside of golf town kids don’t get to spend near enough time on.
Your Board of Trade remains busy throughout the summer and none of our committees are likely busier right now than the golf committee. This years event is taking place on Thursday, August 24th at Shelburne Golf Course. Registrations are strong but we wouldn’t turn away more golfers or prizes! Get signed up through the DBOT website for what surely will be a fun filled day.
I had a pretty good idea of what DBOT did before I became chair but even I was surprised with the number of events and activities our board is involved with. There are many events that are higher profile but I’m not sure there is an activity more impactful than our work in helping develop skilled trades. Our Dream Dufferin event last September was a resounding success and plans with some of our partners for a bigger and better event for this November are already underway. You will read and hear soon about some of the other work this committee is doing in the near future. It is great “boots on the ground” stuff that I am pleased that DBOT can help with and in some areas take a leadership role.
I hope to see you all at the golf tournament!
