Originally published in the
Meher Baba Journal in the 1930s, Meher Baba's
Discourses
(subsequently gathered into book form) cover a range of spiritual topics. Volume III includes four discourses under the heading "
Qualifications of the Aspirant
" which will be reviewed in this group reading and discussion. Qualities (like faith and patience) necessary for spiritual progress, as articulated by Meher Baba, can be freshly considered within the context of New Years Resolutions -- an idea to be touched upon in this group exploration, hosted by Mary Kay Shubat Hage.

A new "
Effort & Grace Study Group" has been formed, organized by Meherabode member (and former Board member) Raymond Lee. This group reads and discusses the book
Effort and Grace written by a Baba-lover, Darwin Shaw. Deemed a contemporary classic of practical mysticism, Darwin's volume can be approached as a useful guidebook for Meher Baba's path of divine love.
This new study group meets each Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 am. The first session was held last Saturday (Jan. 2); the second session will be held this Saturday (Jan. 9). New-comers interested to delve into this work are welcome to join the study circle by emailing Ray Lee at:

were back from break and studied
Maya, Part II - False Beliefs
. Our favorite quote was: Maya becomes irresistible by taking possession of the very seat of knowledge, which is human intellect. Surmounting Maya is difficult because, with the intellect under its sway, Maya creates barriers and upholds false beliefs and illusions. It creates barriers to the realization of the Truth by persistent attempts to sustain and justify erroneous beliefs. The intellect that functions in freedom prepares the way to the Truth, but the intellect that plays into the hands of Maya creates obstacles to true understanding.

We are excited to announce that Meherabode will be open on the 1
st
and 3
rd
Saturdays of every month (10 AM - 2 PM). This new opening began Jan. 2nd, 2016, and will continue Jan. 16th.
Meherabode's OPEN HOUSE -- Two Saturdays Each Month!
Come spend time at our beautiful Center reading about Baba, talking about Baba, and contemplating Baba in the Dome. These Saturday hours are for you to do whatever you feel will bring you closer to our Beloved.
Saturdays at Meherabode are for everyone from people new to Baba who would like to learn more about Him to lifelong Baba lovers. There will be two volunteers present every Saturday to answer any questions and facilitate your experience.
We look forward to seeing you on January 16th!

Baba called in the four women, Adele, Bili, Beryl and Filis, and asked them to read their joint letter to Mehera. He admonished Adele and Beryl for their portions and asked them to rewrite them. He dictated the following to Adele for her section [of the letter to Mehera]:
Baba is the Soul of souls,
The Beloved of the Gods,
The Life of his lovers, and
He is the slave of his dear ones.
