LOBBY DAY REGISTRATION

ON APRIL 10, 2024, CAL-ALHFA will be hosting a day-long Lobby Day in The State Capitol where attendees will be able to meet with legislators and staff to express their specific concerns and priorities in this all important year.

ASSEMBLY HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR, CHRIS WARD, SAN DIEGO

This hearing will be an opportunity for legislators to present their new legislative proposals to the Assembly Housing Committee. Testimony will be heard and discussion will ensue. All attendees will be allowed to offer support or opposition to bills heard. Bills that are passed in committee will then move forward in the process. Bills not approved in committee will die.

Presentations by Legislators and staff on the following:


Proposition 1 (Governor). $6.38 billion bond to build mental health treatment facilities, and provides housing for the homeless. (On March 2024 ballot)


AB1813 (formerly ACA 1) (Aguiar-Curry) Assembly Constitutional Amendment which lowers the voter threshold to 55% for local housing and infrastructure bonds and taxes. Proposed for November 5, 2024 ballot.


AB1657 (Wicks) $10 billion bond for the development of affordable housing through existing state programs. Proposed for November 5, 2024 ballot.


SB225 Community Assistance and Anti-Displacement and Preservation Program (Caballero). Acquisition and rehab of market rate properties to be converted to permanent affordable rental housing.


SB440 Regional Housing Finance Act (Skinner). Authorizes two or more local governments to form a Regional Housing Finance Authority.

Other bills affecting local housing finance agencies may also be included.
