August 2019 at Place des Arts
Home to our arts community
Even though our regular season of classes is on hiatus, we're still a hive of creative activity during the summer months - our Summer Fun campers make sure of that. Take a look at some of the artwork they've created these past few weeks!

The majority of our summer camps wrap up in August, but we're excited to welcome more than 50 children to our annual, fully subsidized ArtReach camp.

We have some new teachers for the 2019/20 season to introduce to you, as well as two new staff members, and we've programmed several exciting new classes to inspire you this coming season.

Are you a dog owner? Check out our first pARTy@PdA of the season, coming up on September 7 - it's truly one for the dogs!  Our exhibitions season opens next month as well and features gorgeous fibre arts, photography and paintings.

Read on to get all the details, as well as a profile of a very talented student who is off to a prestigious art school in September!

Enjoy these lovely summer days!

Yes, Your Dog Can Be An Artist!
First pARTy of the season is going to the dogs

We have an fabulous season of pARTy@PdA events lined up (just for adults 19+) launching with PAWcasso for dogs and their people on Saturday, September 7 from 11:00am - 1:00pm.

Gather up your pooch and come create a painted masterpiece together in a social and relaxed outdoor setting.

First, your dog will paint with a painted paws technique (using non-toxic paints, of course!). Then you finish up by skillfully blending your brush strokes with your dog's paw painting. The outcome is an abstract or personalized work of art done in collaboration with your pup!

Canvases, paints and tasty tidbits for both humans and canines will be provided. Need something a bit more "inspirational?" Purchase a mimosa or glass of wine from the bar! Art supplies and food included | cash bar.

One dog per human participant; all dogs must be up to date with vaccinations and leashed at all times - no retractable leashes, please.

Buy tickets online here or by calling 604.664.1636.

ArtReachEvery Child Deserves The Chance To Engage In The Arts!
Our ArtReach camp reaches kids in need

We see the positive impact that engagement in the arts can have on children each and every day here at Place des Arts. We also recognize that not all families can afford the cost of art classes, lessons or camps. That's why we're proud to provide our annual ArtReach camp, a fully subsidized, week-long art camp for kids ages 5 - 11 whose families need a little support.
The camp includes all classes and supplies, a healthy meal program and is supported by an Education Assistant to enhance accessibility for students and their families.
This year, ArtReach runs from August 12 to 16, and 50 kids will dive into their imaginations and learn new skills in a variety of visual and performing arts classes. At the end of the week, friends and family are invited to drop by for Friday Fun Day, when the kids proudly showcase their talents and the skills they've learned over the week.

We wouldn't be able to offer ArtReach without the help of our generous sponsors, so here's a huge shoutout to the Coquitlam Foundation, the Hamber Foundation and the Jack Gin Family Foundation, held at Vancouver Foundation in gratitude of their contributions!
Big thanks to our 2019 ArtReach sponsors
