Although our friendly environment - with our Sky Room Cafe serving as an ideal community meeting place - is an encouraging space for movie-goers to meet one another and discuss our screenings any time, by joining our Meetup group, you will be certain to take in a film with other film-lovers who want to meet new people and engage in discussion.
Seat Replacement Update!
Late in 2016, the Cinema Arts Centre was offered a remarkable deal on used seats to replace the seats in Theaters One and Two, improving comfort and providing cup holders. We began to raise funds to replace our seats through the 2016 Life of the Cinema Campaign and through the sale of seat plaques. When the seller was not able to deliver on timeline, we stopped the sale of seat plaques and notified members and donors about the indefinite delay. We are also holding funds raised through the sale of seat plaques, and any funds raised through our annual campaign that were designated for seats, in a special fund. We will not use those funds for any other purpose.
It has become increasingly clear that the seller will not be able to make the used seats available to us, despite the offer, due to unforeseen circumstances. Therefore, we have determined that the best course of action is to purchase new seats. We are applying for funding which – if approved – will cover half the cost of new seats. In addition, we will apply funds currently being held and additional funds raised through the resumed sale of seat plaques, to complete this project in 2019.
Enjoy a reception at 7pm, our special screening at 8pm, and stay for a discussion facilitated by Fred Craden, where CAC neighbors can share stories of kindness, acceptance, and the values promoted by Mr. Rogers. We can talk about what they meant to us then, and what they mean to us now.
