Dear Members of First Pres,
Sunday, March 17th is the day, you the members of First Presbyterian, will elect the people to serve on the Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC).
A Pastoral Nominating Committee is always composed of an odd number of people. Session determined the PNC would have 7 members and 2 alternates. The alternates attend the whole process, and step in only in the event someone steps down due to illness or relocation.
Session received the names of people you felt would make decisions for the well-being of the whole congregation. They then sought to ensure a range of ages, forms and length of church participation, varying faith views and a gender balance.
At the Congregational Meeting held right after worship on the 17th, you will receive the names of the candidates as a slate.
From the brief biography of each person, you will see the breadth of perspectives they bring and get a glimpse of the prayers they bring to this most important, God inspired work.
Come, be part of this next step forward, to discovering the next pastor for First Pres, Pottstown.
Yours In Christ,
Roberta

My family and I have been attending FPCP since Emma was a baby 13 years ago. We knew of this church from my father-in-law, Scott Sample, who was a longtime member. Gwen and I are so grateful to this congregation who have helped us raise Emma in faith and look forward to her professing her faith for herself in April when she is confirmed. I currently give my time and talents as a ruling elder on Session, teaching senior high Faith and Friendship, being a high school youth advisor and a storyteller for Young Children in Worship. I also play piano for the Praise Team and attend the monthly Men’s Breakfast. In the past, I served as a deacon and played original piano compositions during worship. I am a project manager for a large health insurance company and am in my forties. I pray that the Lord continues to guide us through this process with wisdom, purpose and love, and look forward to working alongside the other committee members.
I’ve been a member of FPCP since 2012. I enjoy being part of the choir, counting team, men’s Sunday School class and men’s monthly fellowship breakfasts. I have been a primary care/family physicianfor 36 years and am currently in my 6th decade of life. We know the Lord answers prayer, so let us collectively pray for wisdom and guidance by the Holy Spirit to lead us to the person or persons He has chosen to pastor FPCP in the coming years.

As a member of FPCP for 33 years, I have served as a Deacon, Ruling Elder, and on several committees including Worship, Spiritual Formation and Hospitality. Currently employed by Barnes & Noble in the Ursinus College bookstore, I also volunteer at Daily Bread Food Pantry in Collegeville. My hope is that we, both the PNC and this church family, lean into the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit in the search for our new installed pastor. I'm excited to serve on the PNC and I am looking forward to the next step of our journey together here at First Presbyterian Church.

My wife, Lisa, and I have been a member of FPCP for over 24 years. I have been connected with many facets of our Church during that time. I have been a Youth Group Advisor for 11 years, been a Deacon, and a member of Session. Mission work and community outreach is especially important to me. I have assisted our Youth in many Workcamp experiences, attended many Adult Mission trips, participated in a number of trips to Honduras to install clean water systems, and have been our local coordinator with Habitat For Humanity. Our Church has been a central part of my family's life and I am thrilled to be a part of this important phase of our transformation journey. I’m in my fifties and have over 30 years of experience working within Human Resource operations, with 20+ years in leadership positions.

I'm in my mid thirties and I have been a member of FPCP for just over a decade. In that time I've been delighted to work with youth of every age and participate in musical groups ranging from bell choir to cherubs and everything in between. When I'm not at church I spend my time trying to convince 8th graders that reading is fun. This church has carried me through the hardest time of my life and I am humbled and honored to give back to this community by serving on the PNC. I am so excited to see what the future holds for our church and I pray that we can remain engaged and patient throughout the process.

I have been a member of FPCP for 14 years and am in my fifties. During my time here, I have served on Session for 6 years and fulfilled the role of clerk for 5 of those years. I am also a counter and am involved with the Mark 12:31 Team, the Porter Broward Taskforce and worked on the Discernment Team. Previously, I was on the Fun & Fellowship and Worship Committees and participated with the Barth tutoring program. I work part time at Falkner Swamp United Church of Christ as the office admin. As the church embarks on the search for its next pastor, I am eager to witness the blessings, growth, and purpose of this journey.
A guiding scripture for me as we head into this process: Let the Lord your God show us where we should go and what we should do.” ~ Jeremiah 42:3

I am a 4th generation member of FPCP. I am in my forties and an emergency veterinarian at a specialty hospital in Glen Mills. When I am not working overnight shifts I enjoy sleeping, baking, house projects, and spending time with my family and pets. I currently live with my miniature schnauzer mix, Saucie, that quickly took over my house and heart before becoming a foster fail. I have a deep passion for mission work and am very proud of our church’s priority towards helping others. I am extremely appreciative of the opportunities FPC has given me to learn and grow in Christ around the country (and world). It is an honor to represent the congregation on those trips, and it is an honor to represent them during this step in the transitional process.
Heavenly Father, guide us through our search for a shepherd to lead and love our congregation. In this time of transition, we are not lacking for support and compassion, as long as we remember that we can lean on our fellow congregation members. Help us keep our hearts and minds open to the needs of others and not just ourselves. Keep our eyes forward to the bright future that you have prepared for us.

My wife, Diane, and I have been members of FPCP since 1985. I will be entering the super seventies this coming August. I am a retired elementary school reading specialist and continue this work part-time with one-to-one tutoring in the area. I am an ordained Elder and presently serve as a Deacon, a Chancel Choir member, and also serve on the HENS Board of Directors. My prayer is for our church to grow together with new leadership to guide us to be a church family of hope, love, and grace for our community of believers.
I am in my mid sixties and have been a member of First Presbyterian Church Pottstown for over 35 years. I served on the Spiritual Formation, Decorating, Hospitality and Admin committees as well as serving as a Ruling Elder for two non consecutive terms. I facilitated the Women's Sunday School Class for 20 years and participated, for a season, in the choir. I also participated in the Adult Mission trips to Honduras and Mississippi (Katrina) and Seeker Workcamps to Lewes DE and Lynchburg VA. I currently facilitate the First Presbyterian Lectio Divina prayer group and continue to serve as a retreat leader and spiritual director within the community. I earned my Spiritual Directors Certification in 2015 through Kairos School of Spiritual Direction where I recently served as faculty. I am currently a practicing professional engineer and associate director of the mechanical department in the US for IPS - Integrated Project Services, headquartered in Bluebell PA. As an alternate member of the PNC I am most excited to bear witness to God "showing up" in the process, to offer my gifts of deep listening and discernment to the committee and to warmly welcome the person who will share our ministry of growing deeper in faith, while reaching farther in love.
