TANYA JAMES

HIRED AS

FEDERATION OF SOUTHERN COOPERATIVES/LAF

INTERIM TEXAS STATE COORDINATOR

EAST POINT, GA. The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund proudly announces that Tanya James has been tapped to serve as Interim Texas State Coordinator, where she will lead our efforts around cooperative economic development, land retention, and advocacy with our membership of Black farmers, landowners, and cooperatives. She will focus specifically on underserved communities throughout the state of Texas. Tanya will be part of the Federation's executive team and regional coordination efforts.

For over a decade, Tanya James has led capacity-building initiatives across the Gulf Coast to build and strengthen organizational systems while supporting the growth and development of nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs who serve as catalysts for change.

Ms. James has worked in the community on behalf of the Southern Rural Access Program (RWJF), Southern Rural Asset Building Coalition (Ford Foundation), Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Foundation for Louisiana, Louisiana Area Health Education Centers, Louisiana Public Health Institute, Human Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and including some strategic planning work with the Federation of Southern Cooperatives over a decade ago.

"We are excited to reconnect with Tanya and look forward to what she brings to our leadership team, our membership in Texas, and the organization overall,” said Executive Director Cornelius Blanding.

The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund is a 56-year-old cooperative association of black farmers, landowners, and cooperatives.

Our mission is to be a catalyst for the development of self-supporting communities through cooperative economic development, land retention, and advocacy. We envision sustainable rural communities supported by a network of farmers, landowners, and cooperatives based on local control and ownership.
