LENS is an interdisciplinary community dedicated to bringing people together who are interested in remote sensing, connecting with stakeholders through translational ecology, and characterizing socio-environmental systems (SES) in landscapes surveyed by the National Ecological Observatory Network Airborne Observation Platform’s (NEON AOP).

WE ARE THRILLED TO SHARE OUR WEBSITE WITH YOU

We started LENS in 2020 when we saw an expansion of remote sensing technology through the National Ecological Observatory Network Airborne Observation Platform’s (NEON AOP) ability to improve our capacity to understand the environment and its complex relationship with social systems. This is the first effort of its kind to unleash the power of AOP data to examine SES.

In this paper we highlight current challenges to understand human–environmental interactions over multiple spatial and temporal scales requiring the use of large volumes of data collected by NEON's AOP. We also provide recommendations to improve and expand its use for SES research.
