Roshni Kandel brings International Experience to Family Practice Healthcare at All Care. |
Building upon her passions for health and math at a young age, Roshni Kandel, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C, MPH, RN, BSN, liked the idea of becoming a nurse. Work toward this goal began at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Bangladesh, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Roshni continued her education, earning a Master’s in Public Health focusing on Epidemiology, Reproductive & Child Health at the American International University, Bangladesh (AIUB), Dhaka, Bangladesh, before coming to the United States to study at the University of Iowa to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Family Medicine. Her studies at the international schools allowed her to continue her studies in the States without re-taking extra courses. It also familiarized her with Western methods of teaching.
Before studying at the University of Iowa, Roshni performed as a nursing supervisor and a nursing instructor in Bangladesh, and Nepal, respectively. At the University of Iowa, Roshni served as a nursing graduate student representative on the University of Iowa College of Nursing Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI) Committee. She supports a commitment to equality to undo oppression for all respective identities. After graduation from the University of Iowa, she gained nursing experience in rehabilitation before her Family Nurse Practitioners clinic rotations in obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, and in a community health center. Roshni’s final nurse practitioner rotation included work in a health center with practices of Family Medicine, Mental Health, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and Ear, Nose & Throat.
In 2021, Roshni was recognized as one of 100 Iowa Great Nurses. The 100 Great Iowa Nurses Award recognizes Iowa nurses who routinely go above and beyond and take that extra step to ensure safe, compassionate patient care and are viewed as mentors to other nursing professionals.
Roshni welcomes new patients and is available to speak the languages of English, Nepali, Bangla, and Hindi.

National Health Center Week 2023
Communities across the country will celebrate the 2023 National Health Center Week from August 6th-12th. Elected officials will join in recognizing the work health centers do to keep our communities healthy and safe. Their support demonstrates that not only is it possible to move beyond the partisan divide over health care, but to support and agree on a program vital to our communities.
Health centers provide preventive and primary care services to over 30 million people and are the first to respond with wrap-around care during disasters and health emergencies. Our model of care is driven by services needed in each unique community. Together, we are the backbone of the nation’s primary care system. Community Health Centers lower healthcare costs to the tune of $24 billion a year, reducing the rate of chronic diseases and stimulating local economies.
At All Care Health Center, we provide primary medical, dental, mental health, and pharmacy services. Community Health Centers are not just healers, we are innovators who look beyond medical charts to address the factors that may cause poor health, such as poverty, homelessness, substance use, mental illness, access to nutritious food, and unemployment. We are a critical piece of health care systems and collaborate with hospitals, local and state governments, social, health and business organizations to improve health outcomes for people who are medically vulnerable.
The mission of Community Health Centers remains crucial today because access to basic care remains a challenge to over 100 million people across the country. Many people live in remote and underserved communities where there is a shortage of providers and, in many cases, the nearest doctor or hospital can be as far as a 50-mile drive in another county. The challenge can also be financial. All Care Health Center will never refuse a patient based on their ability to pay. We have been working to increase access to our community in many ways. Our most recent efforts surround mobile healthcare delivery to students, their families, and staff through a partnership with Council Bluffs Community School District at Thomas Jefferson High School and through other partnerships.
Show your support during National Health Center Week by supporting your local community health center – All Care Health Center. We will be here when you need us.

The Mobile Medical Health Clinic
is Going Back to School!
|
Parents of Thomas Jefferson High School Students (we know some of you read this newsletter), do you need some relief from the daily pressures of parenting? Your student can receive healthcare without missing school and without you taking time off work!
The All Care Mobile Healthcare Clinic will return to offer primary medical and psychiatric mental healthcare for your student, family, and the Council Bluffs Community School District staff on the Thomas Jefferson High School campus. The mobile clinic will be available Tuesday through Friday, beginning August 23.
The mobile healthcare clinic provides well checks, immunizations, and can manage behavioral health medications. Of course, we welcome day-of-sick visits, too. Our healthcare team can communicate with your family's primary care provider or become your family's primary care provider. These are just a few examples of our mobile healthcare services.
We welcome you to begin making appointments now. Appointments can be made for your student or family members by calling All Care at (712) 325-1990. Appointments can also be made through your school nurse to meet immediate needs that arise during the school day.
To make this process smooth, All Care encourages families to plan ahead. Even if you don't think your child will ever need to use our mobile medical services, please complete the new patient and consent paperwork, turn it in to your school nurse, or bring it to the mobile health unit during the back-to-school night on August 21. Pre-signed consent forms let the school nurse schedule your student for an unplanned and urgent visit; you will still be contacted. Student packets are located online in both English and Spanish.

MyChart is Coming to All Care
EPIC changes are happening at All Care Health Center! All Care is moving to a new best-in-class Electronic Health Record (EHR) called Epic, allowing us to provide a better patient care experience. One of the changes our patients will benefit from is the new portal called “My Chart.”
My Chart will be your secure online health connection. It will allow our patients to see all their medications, test results, upcoming appointments, an after-visit summary, and more in one place. Patients can request appointments and complete pre-visit tasks from home through My Chart. When using My Chart, there is no need to wait in line. Patients can verify insurance, update allergies, sign documents, and even pay copays from the convenience of their phone or computer.
Having access to an online health connection will allow patients to send a message or arrange a follow-up appointment with their care team, from wherever they are. You can receive quick online care through telehealth. These video visits are available for common medical concerns, including ear infections, cold and flu, rashes, sore throats, allergies, sinus problems, urinary tract infections, and more.
Patients can log in to MyChart and get test results as soon as they become available. Health records, including historical results, can be reviewed on demand. My Chart will allow patients to request prescription renewals right from the app. And – did you know that All Care will deliver prescriptions to the homes of patients who live in Council Bluffs?
Your account can help you care for your family members by keeping track of these appointments from a single account. This can also allow you to check in on family members needing extra help.
My Chart is available in multiple languages, including English and Spanish. My Chart will “go live” on August 28. Be ready to sign up. Watch for instructions on Facebook, in our lobby, on our website, and newsletter.
