Downtown Boise’s Signature Summer Events are Back and Better Than Ever!

Downtown Boise Association and Downtown Boise Foundation welcome you for a summer of fun.

Boise, April 13, 2022 – Downtown Boise.

“If you’ve been in Downtown Boise lately, you’ve felt the pulse and vibrancy that has returned to the central hub, the heart, of our region. On behalf of the members and merchants of Downtown Boise, we’re incredibly excited to announce a summer lineup like never before. We listened to our community in 2021 – through countless conversations and an in-depth survey process where over 2,700 of you shared your passion and positive outlook for our downtown. We’re responding with this renewed summer lineup starting with an exciting partnership with the folks behind Treefort directly answering your requests for an elevated music experience at Alive After 5. The Father’s Day Car Show is back, answering the call for family-friendly, free entertainment and Supersized First Thursday, a celebrated addition in 2021, will return in May.

We’re ready to bring Downtown Boise’s new vision to life:

Downtown Boise is a place to explore. Find a new adventure, spark creativity, make connections, and be a part of Boise’s vibrant culture where all are welcome.

What will you explore in Downtown Boise today?”

Supersized First Thursday
May, June, August, September, and October 2022

First Thursday is an opportunity for the community to visit Downtown Boise businesses to experience art, shopping, dining, and entertainment in a unique way. Starting in May, and thanks to support from Columbia Bank, First Thursday will be “Supersized” and will include additional roving performances, music, and activation throughout all of downtown. Downtown Boise Association (DBA) will partner with performing artists and nonprofit organizations to create an enhanced experience for community members visiting downtown between 5pm – 9pm on the first Thursday of May, June, August, September, and October 2022.

DBA is celebrating both Idaho Gives Day and First Thursday on May 5, 2022. The kickoff event of DBA’s “Supersized” First Thursday series of 2022, downtown businesses will play host to local nonprofits engaging the public as part of their Idaho Gives campaigns, including a pop up with eating challenges, games, information sharing, and local radio station Mix 106 broadcasting live from The Grove Plaza for a portion of the evening. Festivities start on The Grove Plaza at 5pm and continue throughout the evening. Details for this and upcoming months can be found on the Supersized First Thursday event page at downtownboise.org. Anyone interested in performing at a future Supersized First Thursday can find the artist call here.

“Thanks to DBA, First Thursday has become something that we celebrate every month. It is a day focused on bringing recognition to local downtown businesses and building community. We are so proud to be a part of everything that happens and love being able to support amazing events like this that perpetuate the amazing sense of community that Boise is known for.” – Kendall Shelton, VP & NeighborHub Manager, Columbia Bank

Father’s Day Car Show
Sunday, June 19, 2022, from 9:00am to 3:30pm
Award ceremony between 2:45pm and 3:15pm (multiple categories)

The 19th Annual Downtown Boise Father’s Day Car Show is like no other– celebrating transportation, both past and future, alongside downtown’s vibrant food and shopping scene, in the heart of Idaho’s beautiful Capital City!

The Downtown Boise Father’s Day Car Show both celebrates and educates, excites, and intrigues. Treat Dad to brunch, shop for a Father’s Day gift, then browse an exciting display of cars, both classic and electric. Car Show admittance is free to the public.

What’s different about the Downtown Boise Father’s Day Car Show? Downtown Boise is always bustling with people, which means a growing number of transportation options are most visible downtown. The show features dozens of beautiful classic cars dating back decades, plus a surprising variety of today’s most modern electric vehicles.

Each car has a story, whether it’s the latest in sustainable technology, or the stories of families who have cherished their classic automobile for generations.

Come see these beautiful cars, share in their stories, and celebrate the father figure in your life!

“City Go’s mission is to support sustainable transportation in all forms from busing to biking, vanpooling, carpooling and more. Being part of the Father’s Day Car Show is particularly exciting because of our partnership with DBA, which continually supports our work, and because we’re supporting an event where we see shifts toward more sustainable means of transportation.” – Wayne Rysavy, Ph.D., Communications Manager, City Go & Valley Regional Transit
