Welcome to Week 12 of the Winter Share.

A few product highlights this week:
  • Tomatoes -- this is the likely the last of the greenhouse tomatoes. Enjoy them while they last!
  • Pepper Butter -- one of our team's favorites. This mustardy-pepper spread is great on a variety of foods. You can add it to a sandwich, I like it for my eggs in place of ketchup, dip with chips/crackers and cheese, or for this week's bag as a sauce with meatloaf. It has a bit of heat to it from the hungarian peppers, but isn't too spicy. The name can be deceiving because there isn't any butter in this product.
  • Mushrooms -- we've been lucky these last few months to find more mushroom growers to have enough for to put in all the bags this week.

Easter is coming up and we'll be partnering with Ohio City Provisions for ham, lamb and cider/wine offerings that can be pre-ordered now for pick-up during the next Fresh Fork week (April 5 through 8). More details below. Order form here.

Bring on the sunshine & greens! Check out the produce category for some soil grown, cold frame greens that were planted in the fall. Thanks to recent sunshine and warmer temperatures these greens have been brought to life and are ready for harvest.

We will be partnering with Ohio City Provisions to bring Smoked Hams + Lamb to our Fresh Fork locations in time for Easter.

How it works: Pre-order now for pick-up April 5 through April 8th at a regularly scheduled winter location.


Bone-in Ham: Pasture raised hams that have been smoked, are fully cooked and ready to reheat. Hams are available in the approximate weight ranges -- 7 to 9 pounds and 10 to 12 pounds. $8 per pound.

Boneless Ham: Great for small parties and to slice for deli trays. This ham is 100% usable with no trim (it's the same ham that's available at Ohio City Provisions as sliced deli meat).

Seasoned Leg of Lamb: Deboned leg that has been butterflied & seasoned, then rolled back together and tied. Seasoned with rosemary, thyme, fennel, salt, pepper, lemon zest. Approximately 6 to 9 pounds. $18 per pound.

Seasoned Lamb Saddle. Sold by the whole saddle (loins), the lamb saddle is seasoned with rosemary, thyme, fennel, salt, pepper and lemon zest, then tied in a roll. Approximately 3 to 5 pounds. $32 per pounds.
If you're looking for a little spin on a traditional meatloaf recipe, this one includes the Bread & Butter pickles from the bag.

- Preheat oven to 350* F
- Crumble the beef and pork into a medium sized bowl
- Add onion, garlic, egg, ketchup, mustard, pickles, pickle juice, worcestershire sauce, pepper, and salt (recipe details here).
- Mix well to combine
- Add breadcrumbs and mix again to stiffen up the mixture
- Grease a loaf pan with a little bit of oil or butter
- Place meat mixture into pan, and press to fill the pan
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until internal temperature is 155*
- You can glaze the meatloaf once it's cooked and out of the over, or add onto slices once you've put it on a plate.
  • Make a mixture with ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and cider vinegar for a glaze. We have ketchup available in the online shop. Recipe for glaze can be found HERE.

For a nice presentation with the ketchup-based glaze, when the meatloaf is done baking, remove from pan and flip over onto an oven-safe tray. Evenly spread glaze over the top and sides of the meatloaf. Return to the oven for a few minutes until glaze is bubbly. Remove from oven and top with pickle slices, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, or whatever toppings you wish!
