Saturday, 23 March

McLennan County Democratic Party Convention!

Our McLennan County Democratic Party Convention will be held on 23 March, at the Harrison Center, 1718 N 42nd St, Waco, Tx 76710. Doors open at 10:00am. Our business must be concluded by 2:00pm. Every county party in the state will be meeting that same day. All McLennan County Democrats are welcome to attend. We will be selecting delegates to the Texas Democratic Convention, 6-8 June in El Paso, accepting and voting on resolutions and hearing from our candidates.

Registration:

While walk-ins are welcome, we strongly encourage you to preregister. If you walk-in, you will have to fill out paperwork and the Credentials Committee will have to look up your voting record. You can preregister for The McLennan County Democratic Convention here.

txdem.co/Convention-Preregistration.

You will save us a great deal of time and effort at check in by pre-registering.

Delegate Selection:

We are allocated 79 delegates for the Texas Democratic Convention which will be at the Convention Center in El Paso, 6-8 June. that is a lot so, if you want to go, you probably will get to go. State your desire to go in your preregistration or at check-in. We will compile and approve the list at the convention and for 30 days after the convention it will be possible to add people to it.

Resolutions:

Any Democrat eligible to attend the convention may submit resolution. You can do so even if you do not attend. You will be able to submit handwritten resolutions at the convention. You can pick up the form when you sign in and you will be given an hour while other business is going on. You can save time and effort at the convention by submitting your resolution online here.

txdem.co/Convention-Resolutions

Whether it is a memorial or issue related resolution or a platform or rules change proposal it all follows the same format of a series of statements each beginning with "Whereas" and concluding with "Be it resolved that,..."

All resolutions submitted in McLennan County and CD 17 will be considered by the delegates.

If you can't do the online form, but don't want to wait for the convention or have questions, contact our Resolutions Committee Chair Lisa Shaver and she will assist you.

LUNCH:

At the conclusion of our business or in a break if the business runs long, a box lunch will be provided. You can state dietary restrictions on the online preregistration form. We will probably have a few extras, but the only way to guarantee that we will have food for you is to preregister at

txdem.co/Convention-Preregistration.

Once we get past the convention it will be time to get to work. We know who our nominees are so our effort to secure their victory begins now!

Sincerely,

Mark Hays
