A Storytelling Sojourn Event on Saturday

The design team for Sojourner Truth State Park is hosting A Storytelling Sojourn on Saturday, June 22 from 12-2:30pm. During this sojourn on June 22, participants will walk 2.5 miles and gather for a storytelling circle that explores personal advocacy and persistence.

This event is inspired by Opal Lee, most recent recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the “Grandmother of Juneteenth.” Opal Lee, at the age of 89, walked 1,400 miles from Fort Worth, TX to Washington DC to encourage Congress to name Juneteenth a national holiday. She walked 2.5 miles each day to symbolize the 2.5 years it took for freedom to reach slaves in Texas after the Emancipation Proclamation.

More info and RSVP at https://sojourner.eventbrite.com.

New Traffic Configuration on Jansen Avenue

Jansen Avenue has a new striping pattern, known as “advisory shoulders.” Jansen Avenue will remain a two-way street with drivers expected to yield to bikes and pedestrians using the designated shoulders

This stretch of Jansen Ave is a connector for the Kingston Greenline and the Empire State Trail.
