For this month, we are scheduled to have meetings on:

Business of the Month:

Great American Cookies

I’m happy to recognize Great American Cookies 🍪 as the business of the month. Daisy Mirador has been the owner of this location in the Otay Ranch Town Center since 2007 when it was Nestle Toll House Café. After 16 years, she received the opportunity to convert it into the Great American Cookies store.

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to participate in her Grand-Opening of her new franchise store. Currently, Great American Cookies has 370 locations worldwide, and are famous for their chocolate chip recipe and being the creator of the Original Cookie Cake.

Daisy is committed to helping the community by raising funds for local organizations. She is hosting a fundraiser for Olympian High School's 🦅 Eagles Baseball Boosters on Monday, February 13th.

Citizen of the Month:

Francisco Hulings

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of getting to know Francisco Hulings when he became an Eagle Scout, the highest honor in the Boy Scouts of America. To become an Eagle Scout, they are required to take the lead on a community service project, so he decided to improve a Community Garden for the Paradise Hills Foundation. In this project, he remodeled, refurbished, planted flora, and built three trellises.

He had also spent several hours cleaning up trash at Otay Lakes, preparing food packages for Eastlake Church, helping others with their Eagle Project at St. Paul's Plaza, and more.

We can all be proud of Francisco for his community service and for achieving the distinction of Eagle Scout.

AYRA Cleaners Ribbon Cutting

On Thursday, February 23rd at 5pm, please join us at the ARYA Cleaners Ribbon Cutting for their new 24/7 Full Service 24 hours Center at The Eastlake Village Marketplace.

At 6pm, I will have the honor to stand alongside the business owners to cut the ribbon.

March's First Friday Breakfast

On March 3rd, the Office of the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista, will be hosting March's First Friday Breakfast! I am excited to present my vision for our city’s future and discuss the major projects coming to Chula Vista. This will be a great opportunity to talk with me and the other  community leaders shaping our future.

Be sure to RSVP no later than Wednesday, March 1st, as there is no registration at the door. The meeting begins at 7:30am, located at the Chula Vista Golf Course on 4475 Bonita Road.

Click here to register, or you may scan the QR code on the flyer.

🐶 Finder Foster Program 🐱

The Chula Vista Animal Services has launched the Finder Foster program, which is designed to reunite lost pets with their families while reducing stress on both pets and humans!

Pets are 80% more likely to return home when they stay in the community they are found in. Since the shelter environment can be stressful for lost pets, this program will allow the pets to thrive in a loving and temporary home. The shelter will also provide medical examinations, vaccinations, flea medications and if needed, a microchip.

The finder will foster the lost pet and help search for the owner by posting on social media, websites, and more. Once the owner is located, there will be a pet-owner verification process before the reunification.

To volunteer, please visit the Chula Vista Animal Service's webpage and sign up to be a foster volunteer!
