A special farewell.
The Spanish American Center has recently learned that Bob Dwyer, Executive Director of the Central MA Aging (CMAA) will be retiring in May. In the words of Neddy Latimer, Executive Director of the Spanish American Center, "Bob Dwyer has been a great friend to the Latino community and a person who has always been concerned about the well being of our agency. He feels like family".
The Spanish American Center has been funded for its elders program - Los Ancianos Latinos Unidos (Latin Elders United) for many years by the CMAA. Bob has always paid attention to what we were doing and has been invested in our success, not only as a funder, but as a friend. For this, we are forever grateful. Best of Luck to you now and always.. Happy Retirement!

Dear Colleagues,
My 66th birthday seemed to take forever to arrive. Now that it is imminent, the days have passed swiftly! Of course, with this brings my retirement and the end of my time as Executive Director here at Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging.
After 22½ years here at the Agency, with 19 as Executive Director, moving on brings a slew of emotions: anxiety, relief, hope and joy. New horizons and unknown experiences are in the future as my wife, Kathy, and I move forward into this next chapter of life, something the French used to call “Le Troisieme Age,” or “The Third Age.”
There is the hope for some relaxation along with Kathy and the fur babies Lily and Ellie. Leaving Massachusetts and heading to Vacationland is something that we have talked about and desired for a long time. It really is a dream come true!
Teaching part time will continue. The interaction with students, even online, is something that I find both challenging and fulfilling. Who knows, perhaps other opportunities for this will arise.
Obviously, Central Mass Agency on Aging has been a home for me, and staff members that I have worked with will always be special. I have every confidence that the current staff will continue their work of service to our region, always looking to do their best for the population of older persons and caregivers here in the central part of the Commonwealth. They will certainly be supported by the Board, Advisory Council and many volunteers who have been with us throughout this time.
Community partners like Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, D.A. Joe Early, our local legislators, the Aging Service Access Points, Councils on Aging and others like yourselves will continue the work, making CMAA a part of a tapestry of service to uplift all who need it.
My future will be filled with family, fishing, hiking, wood carving, and of course a few cigars here and there.
Just know that I thank you all for everything you have done, not for me, but for us all as we face a future not of growing older, but growing bolder, and better, with age!
