Our desire has always been that The Ivy Table be directed and grown by the Lord. We have spent the past 15 months cultivating the soil and watering the seeds, praying that God would help us establish healthy roots and a strong foundation, and again...He has been faithful. Like a spring garden, we are now seeing fresh buds appear and exciting new opportunities blossom.

"Neither the one who plants, nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who causes the growth". 1 Cor 3:7

Thank you Livingston County Choirs!

During their annual spring concert earlier this month, the Livingston County Choirs invited us to showcase our Connecting Tables ministry as a prelude to one of their songs, titled Crowded Table. In addition to a wonderful introduction by their director, we were given a few minutes to share about our ministry.

Many in attendance had never heard of The Ivy Table. It was a great opportunity to not only introduce them to who we are and what we do, but also highlight the problem of food insecurity and food waste in our world, our country, and even our own community.

Mothers Day Meals to Benefit a "Mom" to Many

A BIG THANKS to all who purchased one of our Mothers Day Lunch kits. After food costs we were able to raise $1500. 100% of that money was sent to Grace, the principal and "mom" of nearly 150 students at a refugee boarding school Thailand. The funds will be used to help finish an addition that she is putting on the school, which will allow her and her team to welcome in even more at-risk kids.

Unfortunately, the Sunday Supper originally scheduled for June 11 is being moved to Monday, June 26, so we may now have to call it a "SMonday Supper". The good news is that the date change allows us to make the event BIGGER & even better!

What is a Sunday Supper? Sunday Suppers are quarterly dinners aimed at updating our supporters about our ministry in Thailand. They are open to anyone who would like to learn more about the country and the work that we do there. In addition to sharing a traditional Thai meal, we share stories, photos, and videos that are meant to be both entertaining and impactful. If you were able to attend our Sunday Supper in March, please come again, we have all new content with exciting follow-up on some of the items that we previously discussed.

If you couldn't make the dinner in March...you definitely don't want to miss this one! Lhen Lhen Alfonso the Director of Mercy Pattaya, one of our partner organizations in Thailand, will be joining us to share first-hand what its like for a Christian to minister full-time in a predominately Buddhist country, the impact our support has made on her ministry, and details of a NEW and VERY exciting joint project between our organizations. She is flying 8,600 miles to be with us in person...help us show her a big welcome!

We will also have a few incredible and one of a kind gifts to auction off in order to help "Build the Foundation" for our growing nonprofit.

Our eat-in ComeUnity Dinners at Cornerstone Church began a summer break last week, but that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy a home-cooked meal from Whisk and Ivy on Wednesday nights. Beginning this week, June 24, Whisk and Ivy will be offering a ComeUnity Dinners TO GO with all proceeds going to The Ivy Table.

The details:

Meals will come hot and ready to eat
Meals can be picked up between 5:00 and 6:00 from the parking lot of Cornerstone Church (we will load them right into the car for you)
No substitutions or special requests (sorry!)
Meals should be ordered in advance using the Sign-Up Genius link below
Meals will be offered on a donate-what-you-can basis. Those who can afford to give generously will help cover the costs of those who cannot.

Qualified Charitable Donations (QCDs)

to The Ivy Table

What is a QCD? The IRS allows those 70 1/2 years and older to donate up to $100,000 directly to approved charities from a taxable IRA using a QCD instead of taking their required minimum distribution. For those who may be unfamiliar, the chart below quickly summarizes the difference.

We have been asked by a couple people lately if we can accept QCD's, and as a 501(c)3 charity, the answer is YES! Make sure the checks are made out to "The Ivy Table" and mailed to 8358 Airport Lane, Brighton MI 48114. As required by the IRS, you will receive a receipt from us as the end of the year stating that no goods or services were exchanged for your donation. Thanks for considering us!

Facebook difficulties

About 2 weeks ago, our account got blocked by Facebook, we are still trying to figure out how to regain access. Facebook does not appear to have any help or support by phone, chat, or e-mail, so we are not sure exactly how to fix the problem. We currently cannot create posts or access messenger. We apologize if you have tried to reach us through Facebook and received no response. We are currently unable to see our messages.

Facebook has been a wonderful avenue for us to not only share about our ministry, but also stay connected with our contacts in Thailand. Being locked out of our account has been both inconvenient and frustrating. We have several people trying to help us, but so far no progress has been made. Please pray with us that a solution can be found.
