Educational and Cultural Events Happening in May



  • May the Fourth – The inaugural Scholastic Video Game and Esports Expo, hosted by College Esports and powered by the City of Rancho Cordova will take place May 4 from 11 AM to 6 PM at Rancho Cordova City Hall and will feature workshops, video game tournaments, a game developer showcase, and more. Learn more
  • RanchoBot Challenge 2024 – The Sudvida International Foundation has hosted a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) robotics program for Rancho Cordova youth since January and students will put their skills to the test in a robotics competition on Saturday, May 11 from 8 AM to 5 PM at Rancho Cordova City Hall. Learn more
  • Ranga Vasantha – Join Kannada Sangha of Sacramento (KSS) at the Cordova High Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 12 from 11 AM to 3 PM for Ranga Vasantha. The event that welcomes spring features performances by mythological characters and Indian folk dances. Learn more

Sunrise Boulevard Improvement Project

Phase Two of this project starts this summer and will rehabilitate Sunrise Boulevard from White Rock Road to Douglas Road. Plans include overlaying existing pavement, improving media landscaping, installing ADA compliant curb ramps, and upgrading drainage facilities. Learn more

Storm Drain Repairs on Sunrise Boulevard

Through May 10, the city's Public Works team is repairing a storm drain on Sunrise Boulevard. Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures and potential delays outside of peak commute hours from International Drive to Fitzgerald Road. Learn more

Chase Drive and American River Parkway Connection

A multi-use path will be added to Chase Drive from Coloma Road to the American River Parkway. Planned improvements include a separated pathway with new lighting, ADA-compliant curb ramps, high-visibility crosswalks, trees, landscaping and more. The project is funded by a grant and expected to start this summer. Learn more

Free Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinic

The city is hosting a FREE rabies vaccine and microchip clinic for pets of Rancho Cordova residents on Saturday, May 18. Appointments are required, and you must bring proof that you are a Rancho Cordova resident. Learn more

Local Athletes Shine Regionally

Cordova High School Lancers are earning acclaim in the pool and on the baseball diamond. The swim team recently placed second in the championship tournament, while Lancer Pitcher Levi Nyberg made a list of the top 30 high school athletes in the region. Learn more

Summer at City Hall Program Coming Soon

Rancho Cordova youth can learn about local government, connect with local leaders and work on professional development through the city's Summer at City Hall program. Students aged 13 to 18 are eligible. Stay tuned for more on how to apply. Learn more

Man Arrested on Suspicion of Identify, Mail Theft

RCPD continues to protect the community from crime. Deputies recently conducted a probation search and discovered evidence of mail and identity theft. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
