Why I Donate

Recently, I have shared several stories with you about young women who have benefitted from receiving scholarships from AAUW. Here is another wonderful story.
Faye will soon be completing her freshman year at Stockton University and is focusing on elementary education. She is especially interested in learning differences, the diverse ways all students learn and the rates at which they learn and is currently taking two classes in this area. She hopes someday to make a difference in the lives of children and understands, through her experiences that individual students’ have specific strengths and needs.
Faye loves Stockton where she finds that the classes are “personal and the teachers are kind”. She reported that she was so appreciative to have received scholarship from AAUW. Not only did it help her financially, but it gave her a “huge boost of confidence knowing she was deserving to receive it”. She said that scholarships for college bound women can “change lives” and she is “very excited for the future”.
AAUW has been committed to making the dream of higher education and professional and technical education a reality for all women who wish to pursue it. Our story began in 1881, when a small group of female college graduates banded together to open the doors for women’s career advancement and to encourage more women to pursue higher education. Our story continues when we donate to AAUW and give scholarships to deserving women, like Faye, who hope to make a difference in educating children.
