KICK-OFF CUP CHAMPS

Congrats to the Elite Academy teams that won their division in the WRSL Kick-Off Cup!

The U16 Boys Academy are back to back to back champs! KTFC started the day strong on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over rivals Alliance Mustangs that saw Alliance have their keeper sent off after a red card. Their second game on Saturday provided a stiffer test as the team came away with a 1-1 draw against Caboto. The Sunday morning opening match was a huge victory for KTFC as they triumphed over the Alliance Stallions 7-0. Kitchener would face the Stallions again in the semi-final match on Sunday, this time walking away with a 7-1 victory. The Cup final was full of excitement as both teams earned PKs, but Kitchener brought the Championship home defeating Guelph by a score of 3-1.

The U14 Boys Academy team opened their Kick-Off Cup weekend with a huge 9-0 win over London TFC on Saturday and followed it up with a 3-0 victory over Sarnia. Sunday morning saw the team suffer it's first defeat of the weekend as they lost to RED Academy 3-2. The team couldn't dwell on the loss for long, though, as they had a quick turnaround to face Alliance in the semi-finals. KTFC fought hard and was off to the finals after a 2-0 victory. The finals provided a chance for the team to get some revenge as they faced RED Academy again - this time with the championship on the line! The team left no doubt as they put 3 goals in the back of the net and kept a clean sheet as they sailed to a 3-0 victory.

The U13 Boys Academy team had to battle hard all weekend, but they showed a lot of heart and fight on their way to the championship. The team opened play on Saturday with a 1-0 defeat to Alliance which they had to quickly shake off as they faced LS Croatia later that day. The team showed they could rally, though, as they won their second game of the day 3-2. Sunday morning's game saw a flood of goals, as the team put 10 in and sailed to a 10-0 victory over Whitecaps London. Heading into the semi-finals, the team would have a chance to avenge their opening game loss to Alliance, which they did by winning the game 2-1 to secure their place in the finals. KTFC faced off against Windsor TFC in an exciting game that saw 7 total goals. In the end, Kitchener brought home the championship defeating Windsor 4-3.

What a weekend of soccer! Good luck to all of our teams as they begin league play!
