May 2022 Newsletter
Greetings!

With Spring Break behind us and summer on the way, we should still see a steady flow of traffic into our area. Even with high gas prices and inflation on the rise, our state is still predicting that we'll see travelers coming into our rural regions over the summer.

Many visitors are looking for open spaces, quaint towns, new places to explore and the great outdoors. We have so much to offer here in Buellton and the surrounding towns that makes us a desirable location for the traveler. We're also starting to see our international travelers coming back, so put out the welcome mat and get ready for summer!

We're thrilled to report that we had a successful Buellton Brew Fest! 10 years and it's still going strong, in fact, this may have been our biggest turnout yet. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers and sponsors who make this event possible. We've worked with EnFuego Events now since 2015 and we couldn't do it without their help either. This event helps generate income for the Chamber and allows us to provide scholarships for our graduating seniors and sponsorships for local non profits.

Coming up this month, we're going to be hosting the Buellton State of the City Breakfast on May 25th. "Buellton In Recovery" You can find more details below, but make your reservations soon and plan to attend. Our City Manager, Scott Wolfe will be giving an overview of the state of our City and we'll also hear from Sergeant Valencia who oversees the Criminal Investigation Division. He'll go over some important information as it pertains to Buellton and some of the crime we have seen here. We're looking forward to welcoming you back!

We have a great mixer planned for July 20th at Mendenhall Museum, so mark your calendars and plan to attend. More details will come out soon, but we hope you can join us for what is sure to be a great mixer!

Read on to see what else is happening and meet our newest member, Valley Shield Termite & Pest Solutions, Inc.

Have a great weekend and stay well.

Tips and Tools

This Month's Stormwater Tip
Did you know before discharging swimming pool and spa water it must be dechlorinated to undetectable levels (< 0.1 mg/L)? This can be done with chemicals or by not adding chlorine to an uncovered pool or spa for 10 days. Visit your City’s Stormwater Management webpage (Buellton or Solvang) to learn how to properly manage backwash and wastewater from your swimming pool and spa.
