June 2nd: Join us for 2018 Connecticut Trails Day

Saturday June 2nd, join us for a fun, family-friendly hike through a wooded trail and to a beautiful pond. We will look at the latest beaver activity and wind our way back through a lovely forest with interesting moss-covered boulders to climb on. We will spend time exploring whatever piques our interest and play a game or two. All ages are welcome, as long as they can walk 2 miles (or you have a backpack to carry them.) We will still hike in light rain but this event will be cancelled if conditions are deemed to be unsafe.

Lisa Liesener of Everyone Outside will be leading this hike, which is co-sponsored by Everyone Outside, the Middlesex Land Trust, and the Rockfall Foundation.
Pre-registration is encouraged. You can sign up on the Trails Day website.
Meet Our Grantees: Macdonough Elementary School

Commodore Macdonough Elementary School received a grant in 2018 to support the school's program "Macdonough Students Get into Nature."

Through collaboration with Everyone Outside, this program will provide opportunities for Macdonough students to learn about and be better connected with the natural world through a series of field trips for each grade, including field trips to Indian Hill Cemetery, Wadsworth Mansion, and the Middlesex Land Trust's Palmer-Taylor Preserve and Mica Ledges Preserve. In addition, Macdonough teachers will receive training to enable them to offer more lessons about nature and local ecosystems that incorporate the new Next Generation Science Standards as well as the common core curriculum.
