Issue 12 | May 2020
Along about seven miles of Route 7, we're adding a third lane and shared-use paths in each direction, building a pedestrian underpass to access Colvin Run Mill Park , replacing and raising the bridge over Difficult Run, and making many intersection, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Learn more.

In Case You Missed It
During the month of May, drivers can expect lane shifts on eastbound and westbound Route 7, and temporary and permanent traffic pattern changes between Faulkner Drive/Serenity Woods Lane and Towlston Road. Click for details.

Please use caution and be alert to lane shifts, modified side street access, and potential flagger or police direction in work zones. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering and exiting the road. Drivers are reminded that the speed limit along Route 7 has been temporarily reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive, and that use of a hand-held cell phone is prohibited in Virginia while driving through a work zone .

Additional lane shifts and traffic pattern changes will take place in June. We'll send out a traffic alert with detailed information prior to the changes.
Thanks for Giving Our Crews S P A C E

As work continues along Route 7, our crews are practicing social distancing. If you have questions or concerns about the construction, please give them the space they need to work, and call or email us instead of approaching the work site.
