Featured Workshop: Improvisation with Jeff Wirth, August 4-9

Jeff Wirth on Improvisation

By Aaron Tucker

Jeff Wirth is the author of Interactive Acting, a practical handbook for interactive performance. Before establishing Wirth Creative, Jeff served for 9 years on the faculty at the University of Central Florida, where he created the course "Creativity and Problem Solving" and founded the Interactive Performance Lab. In addition to being a university professor, among many other things, he has been a clown, a computer programmer, and a ballroom dancer.

When I first met Jeff last summer, it felt immediately like we had known each other for a long time. I was lucky enough to watch some of his classes and have him advise me on a new piece I was developing at The Barn. He has a gentle yet very direct way of challenging you to invest, take bigger risks, and have more fun in your work.

I asked him about teaching improv and we discussed the difference between "tools" and "rules". Read the full article.

Jeff Wirth's Improvisation Workshop runs August 4-9, 2014. Get the full scoop here!
