Adults with Down syndrome (DS) are at high risk for developing Alzheimer's disease (AD). Virtually all people with DS have neuropathological changes consistent with AD by age 40 years, including deposits of amyloid-beta (Aβ) in diffuse and neuritic plaques, and most will develop clinical symptoms of dementia by their late 60s.
JOIN US as Dr. Annie Cohen introduces the study being conducted on Alzheimer’s Disease and Down Syndrome. Dr. Handen, one of the principal investigators of ABC-DS, will discuss recent findings from this large study of the aging brain in Down Syndrome. Dr. Rafii, Principal Investigator of the Alzheimer’s Clinic Trial Consortium Down Syndrome will discuss findings from the Trial Ready Cohort-Down Syndrome study and the potential for future clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease therapies in adults with Down Syndrome. We will conclude the forum with a Question & Answer opportunity for deeper understanding.
Note: The Forum is being recorded and posted online for future viewing.
