A Word from Our GM!
MAY LONG WEEKEND:
A HUGE SUCCESS!

Our first full house came and went; it couldn't have been better ! It was so great to see cars at every cabin, kids running around the lawn, and hear stories from years passed and plans for years future. While it may have been us opening our gates, it was really the guests that welcomed us to this property over the long weekend, and for that, myself and all our staff would like to say a big "thank you"!

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and suggestions from our veterans are helpful and most welcome! The energy up here is truly something special: a sentiment felt by all that visit and often joyfully expressed.

With the Long Weekend behind us, we're looking forward to the arrival of our school kids over June and the fast-approaching summer.

Come on up and visit us this summer. There is still lots of space available and we are expecting great weather. We will work hard to make your visit outstanding.

We're thrilled to announce that Flying U Ranch has been selected for the 2016 Certificate of Excellence, reflecting the consistently great reviews you've earned on TripAdvisor.

ADDING TO THE HERD

Buck & Bronx:

Buck and Bronx, two leopard Appaloosa's aged 9 and 6, came to us from just down the road at watch lake. These two gorgeous boys had been part of a pedigree breeding stock, until last summer, when they were gelded and began their formal training. The two boys are enjoying their first week on the ranch, and getting used to the green grass, open fields, and being part of a large herd. While they're both still a little proud, the older horses are teaching them lots out in the field, and their manners have improved exponentially since their arrival, making our job so far pretty easy! They'll spend the next summer or two under our wranglers learning the same manners under saddle, but we have big expectations for these flashy boys!

Big Enough:

Big Enough, a 17+hh Belgium x Quarter Horse came to us from XH Buffalo Ranch, across Green Lake. He is a skilled roping horse and gentle giant who is happy to be reunited with his long-lost friend: Moonshine. Moonshine came to us years ago from Rudy, the Flying U farrier, and it's great to watch old friends recognize one another after so many years.

LIVE AT THE FLYING U RANCH:
BOB WESTFALL
- MOONLIGHT POET

Showtime: 7PM
*Free all ages show*

Bob is an organic and original country/folk singer-songwriter with a Texas style of playing, using voice, guitar, and harmonica.
Born and raised around Vancouver, Bob Westfall grew up loving old country and folk music. He learned to play the guitar, harmonica, piano, banjo, and to sing, and began writing his own songs and producing albums of original material. With six albums released, he is currently recording his latest, as well as  planning a cross Canada tour for the summer of 2016. He spent 2015 living and performing in South Korea.

Bob finds inspiration for song writing through travelling and meeting new people. In the summer of 2012, he took a musical road trip from Vancouver to Austin, Texas, and played at various places along the way. That trip produced some great songs about travelling, freedom, and love. His songs are always honest and heartfelt.

Bob's musical influences vary, and include such artists as Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Neil young, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Marley, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, and many more.

There are great things ahead for Bob Westfall and his songs, and he plans to continue travelling and singing his songs for people anywhere he can. One of his goals is to get into the festival circuit and play all over North America, and eventually begin touring in Europe.

The Saloon has been buzzing and the dance floor shaking with the recent influx of 'girl's weekends' taking over The U.
