Dear Parents and Families,

We continue our school-wide theme of exploring mindfulness as presented in the book I Am Peace. Mrs. Norsigian and Mr. Sarpu presented this month’s reflection.

“By practicing mindfulness, we can tap into the present moment and experience a sense of deep connection and inner peace.” This quote reminds us of the importance of mindfulness and its practice. Whether incorporating breathing exercises, meditation, journaling or being kind-hearted, mindfulness practices help us cultivate and grow our faith. Our strong Catholic foundation will support us, especially during challenging times.

The parable of the Mustard Seed teaches us that God's Word, though small in appearance, has incredible transformative power. It shows that great things can come from humble beginnings and that, as believers, we should plant God's Word in our hearts through prayer, meditation, and song.

The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his

field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.

Matthew 13:31-32

As a Catholic community, remember to practice patience, prayer, and more during mindful May!

Peace,

Mrs. Ann T. Sarpu

Dear Parents,

Corpus Christi School uses the Child Lures School Program and will be teaching it

between now and the end of the year. The Child Lures School Program improves self-

reliance, raises self-esteem and helps students master personal safety skills, all while

reassuring them that most people are kind, safe and committed to their well-being.

Through a few lessons, students learn to identify specific lures used in crimes against

youngsters and how to employ proven prevention strategies. The Program also teaches Internet Safety, Drug Resistance, and School Violence Prevention.

We recognize that you may have concerns as to whether the material in the Child Lures School Program is appropriate for your child. If you wish, you may come to school to view the material that is being used or visit the website at

www.childluresprevention.com. If for some reason you do not want your child to

participate in the Child Lures School Program, please respond to this note using the

attached Opt-Out Form to your child’s teacher by Thursday, May 9.

Thank you for your attention.

Peace,

Mrs. Ann T. Sarpu

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

In an effort to keep all students safe;

NO aerosolized sprays such as sunscreen, perfume, body deodorant or bug repellant can be brought into the school at any time; because it may cause a severe allergic reaction to those with allergies and asthma.

School Physicals are due prior to the Start of the Fall School Year for all New Students,

Kindergarteners and Students entering 7th grade. Your child will not be allowed to attend

school without one.

Kindergarten Physicals must be on the Blue form with updated vaccinations that include a

DTAP and Polio after age 4, A second MMR and a second Varicella. A hemoglobin must also

be done to check for anemia.

7th Grade Physicals must include a TDAP vaccination and Meningitis as well as a hemoglobin to check for anemia.

If your child has had a 6th grade physical dated after 9/1/2023 I will accept it.

Please get these in to me as soon as you can to avoid any delay.

District Health Guideline Reminders

Reminder:

No child is allowed to bring to school any unauthorized medications into the school without a Doctor’s order. This includes over the counter medications such as Tylenol, Vitamins, Lactaid or Probiotics. All medications must be brought to the Nurse’s office in the original container with a Doctor’s order for distribution. No child is to carry any type of medication unless this is ordered by the Doctor and must be given in the Nurse’s Office unless otherwise specified on the order. Any student caught with an unidentifiable medication will be brought to the Principal and if there is cause for concern such as suspected drug use, consequences can occur that will be up to the Principal and may include Law enforcement. We have seen an increase in Drug usage in our communities and within schools and we do not want to impact the safety of Corpus Christi School and our students. Be assured illegal drug use has not occurred in Corpus Christi School but there is a need for me to be proactive at this time. It is with this knowledge that I alert parents to the above Policy to keep our School Safe.

Stuffed Animals are not permitted in the School due to sanitary issues. Children can easily transmit germs and potentially lice to others and we try to minimize the point of contact to keep the school and students healthy. Family pictures are encouraged if separation anxiety is an issue.

Thank you,
