May Beekeeping Tips

In and Around the Hive and Nutrition
The bees are arriving late due to the unseasonably cold weather this spring. Some have arrived and most come this weekend. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE THIS YEAR! The bees need lots of food with the late start of spring this year. Be very vigilant and have feed and pollen supplement as we wait for the warmer spring weather.

Your equipment should be paint, cleaned, fixed assembled or purchased by now. Remove any insulation wraps, mouse guards etc.
Consider adding a queen excluder to manage honey supers more easily.
Set up bait hives if you want to catch a swarm.
