Member Testimonial
"My experience with BOMA/GLA has been absolutely incredible. The unique events and fantastic staff have made it easy to transition into a new organization like this one, which is truly unmatched! I had the pleasure of being part of the Top Golf Fun-Raiser committee to raise money for The People Concern. Walking through one of their properties and witnessing how BOMA gives back to the community was amazing! It's probably one of my favorite experiences as a member so far!"

BOMA International - Artificial Intelligence Brief
Navigating the Impact of AI
AI is here, and people have mixed feelings about it. Some think it can solve many problems, while others worry it could cause big issues. AI is already improving areas like commercial real estate and could soon transform health care, transportation, and public safety. But there are real worries about using AI instead of human decision-making, like more job losses, unfair biases, and problems with knowing what's true. To learn more, check out BOMA's research and views.

What's Happening in Advocacy
BOMA Cal Board Meets in San Francisco
Last month's BOMA California Board meeting was hosted by BOMA SF at the beautiful Salesforce Tower.
Our BOMA/GLA representatives, Becky Rios and Dan Cote took in the views of the city from the rooftop before diving into the association's business. Among the top issues discussed were the state of the janitorial bills and the impact of the proposed commercial rent control measure.
Both sets of measures would have grave negative impacts on our industry, and the statewide association discussed the strategy for opposing and defeating these measures. On a more positive note, we celebrated immediate past chair Tom Magnussen receiving recognition for his service to the association from the California State Senate.
The ability for us to connect with our fellow California BOMAs is important for community and advocacy as we all face the challenges Sacramento throws at us. Read more about BOMA California.

Updates on Our Policy Committees
Our Sustainability Committee had a presentation from Verdical Group, who shared an overview of how the LEED Certification system provides a framework for existing buildings to achieve net zero. Santa Monica also gave an update on its proposed building performance standards program.
Our Security and Emergency Preparedness Committee featured a presentation from Mario Gaggioli with Guard Systems, Inc. on preparing your property for protests. Protests may form unpredictably, but it's important to be prepared.
Finally, our Codes and Regulations Committee is hosting a Fire Life Safety Compliance seminar next Wednesday at 8:30am. This is a great learning opportunity to ensure you have the knowledge and tools to keep your property safe! Will you join us?
