You’re Invited: Shadowood Pool Grand Reopening Event

Join RA as we celebrate the reopening of the new and improved Shadowood Pool. The new pool will be heated and also feature new lap lanes and a splash pad, as well as improvements to the adjacent bath house. Be one of the first to visit the newly renovated space by joining us for the Grand Reopening event on Saturday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. All guests can take advantage of pool games, refreshments, and much more. Following the official ribbon-cutting of the pool, DJ Theo will be on hand to provide music to kick off the summer. RA’s member services team will also be on hand to process new recreation passes or renew existing ones – remember, recreation passes are available to all RA members (owners and renters) at no additional cost this year. Interested in joining the celebration? RSVP at events@reston.org.

Lake Thoreau Pool Is Now Open

Thank you to all the members who came out to help us celebrate the grand reopening of Lake Thoreau Pool. Several hundred members came out to cheer as the ribbon was cut to officially open the pool for the season and enjoy games, the prize wheel and more. Be sure to check out the new improvements when you visit!

RA Watershed Team Attains CBLP Certifications

RA Watershed Manager Ben Rhoades and Watershed Specialist Calvin Dickens have each earned the Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) designation. The achievement of the CBLP Level 1 designation demonstrates an advanced level of professionalism and knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices for a healthier Chesapeake Bay. Certification is voluntary and candidates must pass a comprehensive exam that assesses an individual’s command of sustainable practices in the design, installation, and maintenance of landscapes. CBLP-certified professionals have in-depth knowledge of sustainable landscape best practices and a focus on the maintenance of stormwater best management practices.

Reminder: Submit Your Budget Member Feedback

RA staff are actively planning for next year’s budget cycle, and we’re looking for your input as we shape priorities and plans for the upcoming fiscal year. Whether you have ideas for enhancing existing services or introducing new ones, we want to hear from you. Your input will help us prioritize potential additions or improvements for inclusion in the forthcoming budget, set to be finalized in the fall of 2024.

Simply fill out an online form with your ideas, including their intended location, purpose, and estimated costs or cost savings. Once completed, you can submit the form via email to RABudget@reston.org or by mail to Reston Association, ATTN: RA Budget Suggestions, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 20191.
