Our next build date is tomorrow, June 1, and volunteer spots may still be available! We are currently building a home with the Ntiyamira family near 15th Ave. and Buckeye. Parents Issa and Nadia met at a refugee camp in Rwanda before moving to the U.S. in 2007 and 2010, respectively. They have five children who range in age from two to 14 and are currently living in a three bedroom apartment in an unsafe neighborhood. Please email Mark Boyle if you are interested in signing up for this or another of our future Saturday morning build days. No construction experience is necessary.

Our youth are heading up to Northern California at the end of the month for Sierra Service Project. Travel costs are much more to reach this program location than the one in Arizona, so they’re holding a car wash following Sunday's service to help cover the difference. Please stop by and support our youth as they prepare for locally-led work in partnership with community-based organizations with an environmental stewardship lens as well as typical SSP repair projects for homeowners, such as accessibility ramps, stairs, and painting.

Snow cones will be available after service this Sunday for a minimum suggested donation of $1 each. Please help our youth get to this summer’s Service Project in Del Norte county.

This upcoming Valley Interfaith Delegates Assembly is significant, especially in these highly charged times. Their balanced, informed and non-partisan work is especially important this year. We would like you and your voice to be part of the Delegates Assembly this coming Monday, June 3. It is being held at St. Francis in Central Phoenix. A group will carpool from the church at 5:30, or feel free to drive and bring a friend.
What are the issues that most trouble you, your family or your community? Some critical issues were have been addressing are education funding, this proposed new immigration bill, affordable housing, mental health and more. Our voices and action have made a difference for 30 years.
Stop by the Church & Society/VIP table on the patio this Sunday to sign up and mark your calendar to join this important session.

Dayspring’s Church & Society team invites you to view this important new film in the Palo Verde Room on either Friday evening, June 7 at 7:00, or Sunday morning, June 9 at 11:30. The movie provides a deeper understanding about why the Christian Nationalism movement has come to wield such influence and power. Viewing it will invite all of us to contemplate what a faithful response to this movement should entail. Ken Burns says Bad Faith is “a great and powerful and timely film, filled with the dread this moment engenders; the cynical misuse of religion to advance aims diametrically the opposite of Christianity’s mission.” The film will run approximately an hour and 45 minutes.

Due to VBS, the church office will be changing slightly. The office will be OPEN from 9:30-12:30 on Wednesday, June 5, and CLOSED on Thursday, June 6. The week of June 10, the office will only be open occasionally and phones won't be answered between 9am-noon. Please leave a message and we will call you back in the afternoon.

VBS is making a splash June 10–13 from 9:00 - noon. This year’s Scuba VBS will be full of the games, songs, activities, and snacks that you and your kids love. We’ll dive deep into an amazing undersea adventure where they’ll experience the ever-flowing, never-ending love of God. Children must be three years old (and MUST be potty trained) through entering 6th grade. Register online at dayspring-umc.org/vbs. Email Andrea with questions or to volunteer.
|
During the beginning of June, we will be collecting donations for Liberia. Please bring in your gently used clothing, shoes, towels, toys, and children’s books. There will be collection boxes in the narthex for you to drop off your donations on Sunday mornings until June 13, or kids can bring them to VBS.
|
HEAT RELIEF DONATION DRIVE | Please bring in water bottles, electrolyte drinks, and nutritional snacks to support Tempe Cooling Centers this 2024 summer. We will also take hygiene products, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, socks, board games and books.

While we're always in need of volunteers to help Sunday mornings run smoothly, Summer Sundays present a bigger than usual challenge to fill these roles, as so many people head out of town. When you know you're going to be at church, please consider signing up for one of the following positions - some take less than five minutes and all of them are fun... and important!
If you have questions or would be interested in helping out in any of the following areas, please reply to this email or email Andrea in the church office:
-
Shepherd (formerly called ushers, shepherds answer questions and help guide people)
-
Offering Volunteers (Help pass the plate following the pastor's message)
-
Worship Assistant (participate in service by reading the call to celebration, opening prayer, and scripture reading)
-
Summer Sunday School Leader (co-lead one of our weekly children's Sunday School classes)
-
Communion Server (help serve communion the first Sunday of the month)
-
Production Assistant (help our A/V team with the in-Sanctuary sound or our livestream)

IS IT I, LORD? … A call for Second Sunday volunteers |
“I’m spiritual, but not religious.”
If you’re like me, you’ve heard that a million times. It’s what people say who believe in God and maybe even admire Jesus, but who don’t want to be part of old-fashioned church.
Do we at Dayspring have something to offer such folks? We know they are missing the power of church at its best: the community of people helping each other be better people, and working to create a better world. So we can help them and they can help us. BUT, we can’t just invite them to the same-old/same-old. continue reading
