A Note from Sherri:

Annual Conference

“And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”                                                                                                                                                          Hebrews 10:24-25

In a few days United Methodists of Upper New York will gather together for annual conference. Just as local churches have an annual church or charge conference, lay and clergy members from around Upper New York will gather for worship, prayer, and decision-making. It’s a powerful time to see old friends and make new alliances as we prayerfully consider how God is moving us forward as the beloved community.

One of the highlights of our time together will be remembering those clergy and spouses who have joined the church triumphant. We will share their names and celebrate their service among us. We will also celebrate those who are moving to retirement status and thank them for a ministry well done. On Friday night we will commission four persons as they take their next faithful step toward ordination. And, on Saturday, we will read the new appointments. We will be blessed to hear from Bishop Tracy Malone, President of the Council of Bishops and Dr. Ashley Boggan, General Secretary on Archives & History. We will be challenged to learn and grow together, as well as decide how we will live in covenant together.

Please join me in praying we will listen intently for God’s leading as we make decisions regarding how we will live in covenant community.. As followers of Jesus, may we live into the call from the Book of Hebrews, to “provoke one another to love and good deeds…encouraging one another.”  Every United Methodist should have the experience of attending annual conference. If you have time, you are welcome to attend in person as a guest. You can also watch the livestream online. Just go to UNYUMC.ORG. There you will find the agenda, legislation, and links for livestream.

Please pray for me. I’m praying for you.

Grace and peace,

Sherri
