Regional Pretreatment Compliance Awards

The Eugene and Springfield local pretreatment teams are each presenting awards to local industries that have maintained 100% compliance with their wastewater discharge permits. The teams work together as a regional pretreatment group, helping to educate businesses on water and discharge regulations and methods they can implement to help do their part to keep our water clean. For 2023, we had 25 industries that maintained full compliance for the entire year. You can learn more about the work our pretreatment team does on our website!

Digital Advertising Campaign Results

After three months, our pollution prevention digital advertising campaign has come to a close. The campaign consisted of streaming tv, streaming radio, online display, social media, and billboard ads targeting the Eugene-Springfield metro area. We delivered two primary messages, urging people to dispose of their grease and wipes without putting them down drains or toilets. In total, the campaign resulted in more than 3 million impressions, with all metrics holding strong through all three months. Based on this campaign's success, the MWMC plans to continue pursuing digital advertising as an education and outreach tool in the future!

Pollution Solutions

One thing that is incredibly difficult to remove from water supplies is the trace pollution from prescription medications. That's why its important to dispose of old and unneeded prescriptions properly. Fortunately, Oregon pharmacies all accept old prescriptions to dispose of them with other medical waste. Make sure to take your old prescriptions to the pharmacy, and never flush them down a drain!
