I hope spring is off to a great start for everybody. We look forward to the first French Market of the season on May 4th at Prairie Walk Pond. The market will be held each Saturday through October 12th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features a variety of booths including fresh produce, baked goods, jewelry, crafts. plants and more. There are different vendors each week so make it a weekly outing! The Lisle Area Chamber has a table at the French Market and members are welcome to drop off cards, brochures and other marketing materials that can be displayed on the table. If you have anything you’d like to hand out, you can drop it off at the Chamber office.
On the calendar this month is a Ribbon Cutting at Boxer Property on May 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at 5:15 p.m. There is also another Ribbon Cutting at Standout Garage on May 30th, 5 to 6 p.m. and the ribbon cutting will take place at 5:15 p.m. If you can make it, be sure to stop by and welcome both Boxer Property and Standout Garage to the Chamber.
The Wine Committee and the Golf Committee are meeting this month. You can check the Chamber calendar for meeting dates and times. These Committees plan the two great summer events. There are sponsorship opportunities available for each event as well. Contact the Chamber office for more information on all sponsorship opportunities or event information.
Thanks to everybody who have joined committees to help plan events, volunteer, sponsor events and support our members by attending events and shopping local. Let’s all work together and make this a great spring and summer!

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Paula Gleason

Paula is Marketing Manager for the CPA firm of JCMP & Associates. She is a twenty- one year member of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce, past Treasurer and past Chairman of their Board of Directors, Ambassador Committee Chair, Dinner Dance Committee Chair and serves on Ale Fest, Golf, Government Affairs, LINCT, Lisle Uncorked and Turkey Trot Committees. Paula also serves on the West Suburban Community Pantry Advisory Board, is a retired Pantry Volunteer and Chaired the annual Chefs’ Culinary Challenge/Silent Auction Fundraiser for eight years.
As a 33-year resident of Green Trails, Paula has served as the Recording Secretary for the Green Trails Improvement Association Board of Directors for 23 years and contributes monthly articles to their newsletter. Paula is a 17-year Bensidoun USA Supervisor of the summer outdoor French Market in Lisle; is a DuPage County Judge of Election and a retired volunteer at the College of DuPage McAninch Arts Center.
Other activities include a busy lifestyle with her daughter, son-in-law and three active teen-age grandchildren in Lisle, visiting with her son in Los Angeles, collecting unusual menus, wearing hats and enjoying the arts. Her favorite bit of wisdom is: “Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there”. Paula is determined to be a goodwill representative of the Chamber and in that regard she annually hosts the Chamber booth at the Lisle French Market and is visible at most Chamber functions – she’s the one wearing a hat!

A representative from Town Square Publications will be calling your business the opportunity to advertise in the Lisle Community Map that is being prepared. This is another Lisle Area Chamber business marketing opportunity. The Lisle Community Map will be distributed in late July.
The Lisle Area Chamber was one of the 20 Chambers that hosted an Economic Luncheon and Business Expo in April. Austan D. Goolsbee, President & CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago participated in a Question & Answer session with Dr. Joe Cassidy of Innovation DuPage as Moderator. This event had over 300 attendees and 32 expo tables. We thank Larry Forssberg, Westmont Chamber’s Executive Director and his staff for being the lead chamber for this event.
The Lisle Area Chamber was one of the Chamber’s at the Speed Networking event led by the Carol Stream Chamber also in April. The format was like speed dating for business. Breakfast was served first so Chamber Members met other Chambers Members at their table. Then the event had 2 rows of chairs set up across from each other. You gave your 30 second Elevator speech and listened to the person across from you. You moved down to the next chair and so forth. So many business cards and introductions were made. These multi-chamber events are another great business marketing opportunity.

The VFW Ross Bishop Post 5696 is in preparation with the Lisle Memorial Day Parade Committee for the upcoming Memorial Day Parade on May 27th taking place on Main Street in Downtown Lisle. If your business would like to be in the parade, please visit the Lisle Park District’s website for more information.
