Passports to CT Libraries

If you've visited at least 5 libraries, it's time to turn in your "passport" and enter the state-wide drawing for a $200 gift card. Good luck!

Art Journaling for Teens & Adults


We meet on the 1st Friday AND the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. to add a new creative page to our journals. You will receive a journal on your first visit. Supplies and a topic will be provided. Our May sessions are on Friday, May 3 & Wednesday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. Join us for 1 or both!

Mother's Day & Spring Card Craft for teens & adults


We will be making pop-up Mother's Day and spring time cards on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. All supplies and instructions will be provided but you must REGISTER as space is limited.

Navigating Technology with Young Children

A conversation with families.


Make plans to join us on Wednesday, May 22 at 5 p.m. for an informative session.  Explore the current effects of technology on our families. Consider the potential benefits and drawbacks of its impact on young children. Learn some strategies for supporting healthy early development in the age of tech. Will focus on children birth to age 5; anyone with an interest in this topic is welcome! Signups encouraged for planning purposes. Contact the library with any questions.

Silent Book Club


Make plans to join us on Friday, May 24 from 5:30-7. We'll have a brief discussion about what we are reading and then settle in for some quiet time to read on our own.

Building Club


Tuesday, May 28 at 4 p.m.


We are meeting on the 4th Tuesday of the month. We'll provide some exciting building materials and you provide the creativity. All ages are welcome to join us.

No signups required.

Poet Laureate Reception & Open Mic


Friday, May 31 at 5 p.m.


Join us as we welcome Scotland's Poet Laureate, Susan Powers. She will share some of her poems and open the floor for others to recite their own original work. Light refreshments will be available. Contact the library with any questions.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station


There is a charging station in the library parking lot for your electric vehicles. What you should know if you plan to use it:

  • Download the mobile app from the Android or Apple store at https://onelink.to/5kcvhw
  • First time users will select Charge as a Guest and will need to enter credit/debit card information before proceeding.
  • If you are a member you will need to select Account, Create Blink Code, and then enter the Blink Code when prompted.

Seed Library


Have you started your plants yet? We have a Seed Library with a variety of vegetable seeds to choose from. Stop by the library and take what you need to get your garden ready for the season.

The books for 2024 have been announced and are available at the library. Stop by to borrow 1 of the 3 titles (adult, young adult, & juvenile) and see the short list in each category. We'll be discussing the juvenile book, Finally Seen by Kelly Yang, in August with our Canterbury/Scotland Book Club.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten


Help your child prepare for school by reading to them everyday. Join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the library.

It's easy:

  • stop by the library to pick up your packet.
  • keep a journal of all the books you share with your child
  • bring in your reading log for a prize to mark each milestone.
