Hey Friends - I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. As I sit down to write this newsletter, I feel compelled to share with you the raw truth of my recent journey. While my husband and I are overjoyed at the arrival of our second son in September, this season has been one of the most challenging periods of my life. It's been full of immense hardship, compounded stress, and increased demands on my time and energy as we open a new location. Then, there are the invisible demands of leadership and small business ownership. On top of all this, the inevitable shifts and changes that come with life's seasons have only added to the weight I've been carrying. If you're anything like me, you've likely felt the weight of challenges pressing down on you too, testing your resilience at every turn. The long hours spent behind the scenes, the countless tasks that go unnoticed by others, and the constant pressure to keep everything running smoothly can take a toll on even the strongest of spirits. It's a journey fraught with uncertainty and sacrifice, where the weight of responsibility can often feel overwhelming.

But amidst the challenges and the chaos, there is still beauty to be found. It's a blessing to wake up each day, alive and able to serve in the capacity that I do. Offering mental health and wellness services that allow people to become happy, healthy, and whole is an endless pursuit. Despite the exhaustion and the challenges faced, there is no greater honor than being able to love on people and advocate for their well-being. This work is not just a job for me; it's my life's purpose, my greatest joy.

Even on the hardest days, when weariness threatens to overcome, I am reminded of the profound privilege it is to walk alongside each of you on your journey towards healing and growth. I do not take this privilege lightly, and I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Do we always get it right? Probably not. But, man do we try.

In times like these, it's all too easy to succumb to the overwhelming nature of our circumstances, to feel like we're barely keeping our heads above water. But I want to remind you that you are stronger and more resilient than you realize. Despite the difficulties we face, there is a deep well of strength within each of us, waiting to be tapped into during our moments of need. It's okay to admit when things are tough, to acknowledge the struggles we're facing with honesty and vulnerability. But it's also important to remember that these challenges do not define us. They are temporary obstacles on the path to growth and healing. Each hardship we encounter is an opportunity for us to learn, to adapt, and to emerge from the other side stronger and more resilient than before.

So, as we navigate these challenging times together, let us find solace in the knowledge that we are not alone. Let us draw strength from each other and from the shared purpose that unites us. And let us never forget the transformative power of love, compassion, and advocacy in the pursuit of mental health and wellness. Today I hope you find the strength, courage, and hope to continue your journey, whatever that may be. And may you always remember that sunnier, Summer days lie ahead!

With deepest appreciation and warmest regards,

Kaylee B. Bynum, LCMHC, LPC, NCC, CCMHC

Food Bank of the Albemarle's Sort-A-Rama with Small Business Connect

Peaceful Waters enthusiastically joined forces with Small Business Connect of Northeast North Carolina to take part in the Food Bank of the Albemarle’s Sort-A-Rama event in April. This event was a blend of camaraderie and competitiveness, as teams converged in the Food Bank warehouse. The mission was to swiftly pack items into boxes, striving to outpace the ticking clock. Although we did not win, we still experienced the ultimate prize - knowing that our hard work would provide aid to the food insecure in our community.
