FIRST IDDSI SYMPOSIUM IN MEXICO
A two-day intensive IDDSI training symposium took place on May 25-26 in Mexico City and was sponsored by the Mexican Society of Dysphagia and the Mexico IDDSI Reference Group. Dr. Luis F. Riquelme and Dr. María A. Centeno led the training which included three Laboratories: one on liquids; one of foods, including typical Mexican dishes; and one incorporating nasoendoscopy. Over 30 in-person attendees worked in groups during the Lab activities, as well as when developing IDDSI Implementation Plans, accompanied by over 15 virtual attendies. Great learning and discussion permeated the entire two days!
Thank you Mexico for an engaging and educational event. We know IDDSI implementation is well-underway in Mexico!

We are thrilled to welcome The Swallows – Head & Neck Cancer Support Group as a supporter of IDDSI!
Swallows Head & Neck Cancer charity: A Beacon of Support
The Swallows, a charitable organisation dedicated to individuals affected by head and neck cancers, plays a crucial role in providing support and resources. Our mission revolves around four key pillars: Support, Awareness, Research and Advocacy. The Swallows charity offers a comprehensive support network for patients, caregivers and families facing head and neck cancers. This includes emotional support, counselling services and practical assistance in navigating the complexities of treatment and recovery into survivorship. Support groups facilitated by the Swallows create a safe space for individuals to share experiences and insights, fostering a sense of community, family and understanding.
The Swallows charity recognises the importance of advancing scientific knowledge to improve treatment options and survivorship outcomes. The charity supports research initiatives focused on head and neck cancers, fostering collaboration between researchers, clinicians and institutions and bringing the patients’ voice into the research. By investing time and resources the charity aims for development of more effective therapies and
