May 2021 GVCO Newsletter

With Spring turning the corner to Summer, and the slow but steady progress being made in the fight against the coronavirus, GVCO’s programming continues to return to normal. Case in point would be the fabulous season our GV Crew program has had out on the Schuylkill River the past couple of months. Crew had a record number of rowers this Spring (8th thru 12th graders; girls & boys) and have consistently performed at the top of their respective levels. This weekend, our GV Crew team will be participating in the world’s largest high school regatta, Stotesbury.

GVCO is bringing back a host of youth sports programming to the community this Summer after 2020 and the pandemic took most of this away. Our GVBL Summer League is back in full swing as we will be hosting the league outdoors at two courts at the GVHS and two courts at KD Markley. Our sideline and competitive GV Cheer program will be offering several programs throughout the summer, fall and winter. And the Boys of Fall, our GVFL tackle and flag football programs will kick-off later this Summer.

Though things are not 100% normal yet, we are trending in the right direction with kids and families back out enjoying the competitions and playing with their friends. GVCO, as always, thanks the entire community for their support volunteering, participating, contributing and continuing to be generous with their time and resources.

Great job to the Caring Hands team for planting 150 pots of spring time cheer for local seniors at Green Meadows Rehab and Nursing Center!

GVCO Caring Hands supported The Clinic, PA, Healthcare for the Uninsured, by providing lunch for the vaccine clinic volunteers.
Mac Sullivan
Caring Hands Scholarship Recipient

GVCO would like to thank and congratulate Mac Sullivan for her years of dedicated community service through our Caring Hands foundation.

GVCO established an annual scholarship award to be granted to a high school senior who most exemplifies the values of the GVCO Caring Hands through volunteerism, leadership, and community service.
GVCO Caring Hands was established to empower local middle and high school students to support their community by raising funds for those individuals, families, or organizations in our community experiencing hardship, tragedies or catastrophic events. In addition as a Caring Hands a student-run community outreach program, students are organized by the group's student leaders to volunteer for numerous events throughout the year.

Summer and Fall Cheer Programs
Spring conditioning clinics are for athletes who are interested in training and enhancing their strength in anticipation of the fall sports season. These clinics are not inclusive of only cheerleaders, but for all boys and girls who want to get back outside and work out with other athletes.  The clinics will be twice a week in June and July 2021 at a location in the Great Valley School District.
Cheer for Grades K-1
Flag football cheerleading will be for athletes in K and 1st grade to get introduced to the GVCO cheerleading program. Athletes will learn cheers, dance and jumps and cheer during the flag football games and perform at half time. They will also do other voluntary community events to perform to the community, and specifics will be communicated as they are scheduled.
Starting early August, there will be a one hour practice at a location within the Great Valley School District. Games are typically held on Sunday mornings.

Want to get involved? Coaches are needed for the Clinics and Fall season. Email

Cheer for Grades 2-6
The Junior Patriots Cheer Program combines sideline cheer for football and basketball with competitive cheer with local competitions. The athletes will spend time on the fundamentals of stunting, learn a competition routine, condition, work on tumbling and learn cheers for football and basketball. They will also do other voluntary community events to perform to the community, and specifics will be communicated as they are scheduled. Practices begin in early August.
Our GVBL 2021 Summer League will begin June 14th and run until August 12th. Games will be played on Monday through Thursday evenings. GVBL will be taking a maximum of 80 registrants per division.

Register for Girls and Boys in Grades 1-8 for the Fall
Register for the Boys High School division - must be a GVSD resident

Summer Tutoring
This school year brought with it many challenges, especially with so many students feeling like they did not truly learn much of the material covered in their courses. In the short term, students should be looking to finish this school year as strong as possible, but in the longer term, academic deficiencies need to be addressed to ensure future success.

This summer presents an opportunity for students of all ages to catch up on any school subjects they have fallen behind on, especially in cumulative courses like math, where each prior year builds on the last. Whether your student needs to catch up on course content, or get a head start on preparing for the SAT/ACT, contact us to set up a call to discuss their academic situation and what Ivy Experience can do to support them.
