COMMUNITY CORNER
DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
New Community Center

With each passing month GVCO is one step closer to bringing our new GVCO Community Center to reality. We continue to fundraise, trying to attain our goal of $3 million that will allow us to meet objectives for the financing of the project. Our progress can be monitored daily by the fundraising thermometer on the www.gvco.org website. The land development piece of the project is essentially complete and the architect has recently put together a final rendering of the vision for the entire property (see below).
During the 1 st quarter 2019, following GVCO taking ownership of the property, you probably noticed many lawn signs in the community.
We continue to ask for everyone’s help to make the vision come to life. All information regarding the new GVCO Community Center can be found at www.GVCOcampaign.org

Caring Hands
Thank you to Saint-Gobain & CertainTeed for welcoming GVCO's & Great Valley School District's Caring Hands student volunteers to their Earth Day Garden Get Down event. The students learned about healthy eating, food insecurity, and engaged in actual garden planting. The food from the Saint-Gobain Community Garden is donated to pantries across our area to benefit those in need in our communities.

Also, to celebrate spring & Earth Week, student volunteers from Caring Hands planted flowers in pots and made cards for the residents at Green Meadows Rehabilitation.

Challenger Gym
Challenger Gym ended a lively six-week session in April as a total of thirteen children and fifteen high school students literally ran through hoops, zoomed on scooter boards, and just had a good time.
Our fall session will take place in November and December on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:15. Lots of high school volunteers will be needed! Please email Wendy Morris at wendyamorris@comcast.net for more details. The emphasis is on having fun, providing physical activities and forging relationships between kids with special challenges and GVHS buddies.

Thank you Vince!
Our GVFL youth football and cheer program will be celebrating its 10 th season in existence this year. There has been one constant with the program throughout the entire 10 years that has made it so highly successful…Vince McAneney. From start-up in 2010 to last year’s tremendous season, Vince has guided the Junior Patriots as president of the organization. After the countless hours volunteering to make football and cheer a fantastic experience for hundreds of families in the GV community, Vince will be stepping aside from the program. GVCO and the community would like to take this opportunity to thank Vince for everything he has done, having a profound impact on so many kids, and dedicating a good portion of his life to the sport he and his family has always loved. Thank you Vince and the entire McAneney family! 💙GVFL & GVCO

The Kosmalski Family

"We love GVCO‘s mission and the sense of community it will instill. Our kids are just getting started and have played summer basketball and football (tackle and flag this year!) since kindergarten. " - Holly

The Kosmalski Family is dedicated to the growth and future of GVCO. They have lived in Malvern for eight years now with their children Beau (9), Dean (8) and Drew (5). Randy is a native of Wilmington and has worked for Stryker, a medical sales company, for the past 14 years. Holly grew up in Bucks County and has been holding down the fort at home since 2013, but previously worked in child welfare and behavioral therapy. Randy and Holly are both graduates of the University of Delaware (Go Blue Hens!). They are looking forward to becoming a foster family this summer.

"We chose to support GVCO because our kids will be utilizing this center a great deal in the years to come. We are also looking forward to sharing this safe and fun environment with the children we will be bringing into our home. It will undoubtedly be a big part of our future."
