SBA Market Update from ICBA Securities
|
|
ICBA Securities and its exclusively-endorsed broker dealer, Vining Sparks, will present a webinar on May 15 exclusively for the state associations that endorse ICBA Securities, as well as other community banks. This is the fourth in the 2018 webinar series.
SBA 7(a) pools offer one of the few opportunities to invest in floating-rate government-guaranteed securities without cap risk. This webinar will include ways to measure and manage this premium. The webinar will also include discussions of the two major fixed-rate SBA investment alternatives, including their structures, prepayment patterns and relative value.
What you will learn:
- Recent SBA price and issuance trends
- SBA 7(a) prepayments in detail
- 2017 principal distribution methodology change impacts
- Yield versus premium tradeoff considerations
- Fixed-rate SBA issuance volume, yield, and spread trends
The webinar will last approximately 1 hour.

Fear. It's the underlying reason branch managers shy away from making bank to business calls. One of the top causes of this anxiety is lack of knowledge of how businesses run and how they make money.
Business Finance Basics
employs a practical, real world simulation to enhance confidence and reduce call reluctance. Bankers also create insight-based questions to immediately connect this Playbook to real world application.
Slow down to go fast. This counter intuitive concept forms the basis of
Discovery Calls
. Keeping the client/prospect in the center of activities and conversations creates an outward looking approach to quality conversations. Using the seven basic financial needs of business as a base, this Playbook takes a deep dive into case study planning, a modern conversation model and a VIP strategy that makes mundane follow up letters a thing of the past. Complete with practical tools such as a Share of Heart profile, Discovery Call Diagnostic, Question Resource Guide and Conversation Recap,

Is Marijuana "Legal" Now? The Cannabis Industry and Your Risk
As more states join the majority, regulating some form of medical or recreational marijuana, the federal government's position remains unchanged. Under federal law, it remains illegal to cultivate, process, distribute or possess marijuana. This has placed entrepreneurs, investors and service providers in a quandary. This alert provides a legal analysis and a risk assessment for participants in a new, evolving and uncharted industry.
Federal Regulation of Marijuana
All drugs must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) if they are sold legally in the United States. The FDA will only approve a drug after the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) determines that it provides benefits that outweigh its known and potential risks for the intended population. Certain drugs are further deemed "controlled substances" and regulated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) pursuant to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 (CSA). The CSA divides controlled substance into five "schedules" based on the drug's abuse potential, medical applications, and safety.
