President's Message
Spring...a time we all look forward to after the long winter months. A time when flowers start to bloom and the grass finally turns green. In MPI world, spring is a sign of significant change as well. In many ways our own flowers are blooming in the form of new leaders. We are preparing for the changing of the guard, a bittersweet transition of old to new but one we know will continue to impact the success of our chapter and the continuation of excellence in our industry.
This will be my last message as president. In a few weeks I will hand over the reins of presidency to Kathy DeLand, an industry icon, a veteran of our chapter, a born leader. I've had the privilege of working along-side Kathy for a few years and her vision is very much like all of ours. She seeks growth and wants only the best for our chapter and our members. I will step down as president and lead from a new position. I will continue to work in the best interest of our members and will be here to help guide us into another year.
It has been a true pleasure acting as your chapter president for the past year. I've gotten the chance to meet new people, learn from our youth and be mentored by the seasoned. I've had the opportunity to work with an amazing team, individuals I look up to and respect in so many ways, for so many reasons. We've been there for each other when times have gotten busy and at the end of the day, we got it done. I want to thank Kathy, Martin, Erin, Jennylyn, Liz, Diane & Allyson for letting me be who I am and for supporting me every step of the way. Although the year was not without some challenges, we made it, we have successes and we can walk away knowing our efforts were strong and many of our goals achieved.
To the amazing and loyal members of our chapter...I thank you as well. You have embraced me and for that I feel incredibly humbled. I look forward to building stronger relationships and helping to continue to lead our chapter in a positive direction. As I've often said before, MPI helps to build connections and bring people together for the purpose of doing business in an effective and positive way. I feel I have done that with all of you and know it will continue into the future.
Always challenge yourself to be the best. Challenge yourself to want the impossible and don't beat yourself up if end result isn't always what you hoped for. Failure builds character and pushes us to be stronger. Our youth relies on our guidance and our leadership. I look forward to the future of our chapter and the future of our ever changing industry. As always thank you for your continued support. The grass is green, the future bright.

CT River Valley's 2013 Annual Awards Dinner
Join us on Tuesday, June 11th, 2013 as we celebrate the passing of another great year and welcome a new Board of Directors to our chapter.
The evening will feature a recap of the past year and a look at what's to come. We will also spotlight our 2012-2013 award winners and recognize their value to our chapter. We are excited to be hosting our annual dinner at the Gershon Fox Ballroom, exclusively operated by Marquee Events and Catering and located in the historic landmark G. Fox building in downtown Hartford. Our evening will also feature a fantastic silent auction with entertainment, food and travel items. If you haven't gotten a chance to know the members of our chapter or you are just looking to reconnect then you won't want to miss this event. We look forward to seeing you there.
