Come out an enjoy an evening under the stars with the Log Cabin String Band.

They are a four piece band - fiddle (Terry Burcham), banjo (me), autoharp (Sara Burcham) and guitar (Lou Beasley), plus vocals. They do old time southern string band music that dates to the decades between the Civil War and WWII. Terry Burcham and Lou Beasley both grew up in the 1940's and 1950's in the Galax, Viginia area, which was thick with old time string band music, and still is today. They draw heavily on that Appalchian musical heritage performing traditional fiddle tunes, ballads, breakdowns, and novelty songs.

The Log Cabin String Band has been performing together for three years now. They have appeared in the Huntville Traditional Music Assoc. Coffeehouse Series, Sidewalk Art Stroll, the Huntsville Public Library's Thursday Evening Concert Series, Athens Art on the Square, Burritt on the Mountain's Candlelight Christmas, and several other venues around town. They are also regular competitors in the Tennessee Valley Fiddlers Convention in Athens.

We are excited to have the Log Cabin String Band participate in our new evnets calendar at the Gallery and are looking forward to an evening of GREAT music!
