A MESSAGE FROM OUR BISHOP
on Shootings in Buffalo and Laguna Woods
This past weekend brought me to my knees, yet again, as shots rang out in Buffalo, New York, and Laguna Woods, California. In both cases, the lone gunman took the lives of others because of hate for the victim’s racial and ethnic identities. more
BORDERLANDS PRODUCE RESCUE
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We host Borderlands this Saturday, May 21 at 5:30am in the Arcadia Parking Lot (3530 North 32nd Street, Phoenix). Volunteers are needed to help pack and distribute approximately 70 pounds of fresh produce. We would love to see you there if you can make it! It’s a great way address both food and environmental justice. Email Amy with questions or to sign up.
TCAA WATER DRIVE
Come welcome the Arizona Coyotes to their new home in Tempe and help our community prepare for scorching summer temperatures by supporting the Tempe Community Action Agency with a community water drive. Drop offcases of water to the Escalante Community Center (2150 E. Orange St.) this Saturday, May 21, between 8-11. The Tempe Fire Department will also be on-site with fire trucks to check out and summer safety tips to take home. Tempe Community Action Agency’s Oasis Drop-in Center provides critical resources to the unhoused and underserved community. Your donation will help protect this vulnerable population from the effects of the extreme summer heat.
SNO-CONE SUNDAY FUNDRAISER
Children's Ministry will host the first Sno-Cone Sunday of the season this Sunday, May 22, after both services! In addition to delicious sno-cones, we will also have handmade bags and purses made as a thank you by women living in the communities in Liberia where we have built clean water wells. These one-of-a-kind bags will be available for purchase for a suggested donation of $25. Proceeds help us build new Project Hope wells! Email Emily for more information.
CHURCH CONFERENCE - POSTPONED
The special church conference originally scheduled for Monday, May 23 has been postponed to June 6 at 6:30pm. Our District Superintendent, Rev. N. Susan Brims will preside over the meeting and all church members may vote. Click HERE to join the online meeting.
QUESTIONING THE DEATH PENALTY

While the five-week webinar series, Questioning the Death Penalty, has already been meeting on Thursdays at 6:30pm, it's still possible to register and attend the May 19 session, when Sister Helen Prejean, a Catholic Nun and leading advocate for abolishing the death penalty will be the featured panelist. She’ll share her story and answer questions. Her biography is available HERE. Please send questions for Sister Prejean to Billie Fidlin. Registration and previous session recordings are available HERE.

Help us bring back our coffee hour! We need Coffee Hosts to make and serve the coffee and lemonade. Hosts can choose to serve during and immediately after either service. Training is provided. Please sign up for a volunteer spot HERE or email Jim if you are interested in helping!
A FUTURE WITH HOPE
Creating a future with hope takes all of us engaging in acts of giving, service, and missions. If you are looking for a way to be in service at church, we will feature a different volunteer opportunity in Tempe each week:
If you're more comfortable working behind the scenes, we're looking for volunteers to help with audio and/or video production during both services. Check out our new (so easy to use!) sound board! Please email Kris if you would be interested in learning more. Training is provided and volunteers typically work one month at a time.
