Annual Meeting 501(c)(3) Discussion
Last week's Week in Preview had the May 23 Annual Meeting Packet included. If you missed it, here it is again. Annual Meeting Packet  And if you missed the draft Bylaws that were included in the May newsletter, here they are again. Bylaws

We anticipate the most discussion to come over the proposal to convert our League from a 501(c)(4) tax exempt status to a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. In the March 13, March 20, March 27, and April League Matters, information about both of these tax exempt forms were presented.  You can go to the Newsletter page of lwvoprf.org to review these articles. Over 80 Leagues across the country have converted to (c)(3) status. Some states, like LWV Indiana, just recently converted and in doing so, made it easier for their local leagues. LWV Glencoe/Glenview will be the only other Illinois League that is voting on a (c)(3) conversion at their annual meeting this year.  For more information please read a FAQ sheet put together by LWV US consultants Tom Carson and Toni Larson on (c)(4) and (c)(3) tax exempt issues. In addition, a frequently asked question sheet for our own League's conversion is here.  We will also have it available to members at the Annual Meeting. Please contact Peggy Kell with any questions.
