In the month of May, we had 810 visits to the food pantry and provided 26,433 meals worth of food to our neighbors in need. Out of those meals, 9,922 were to children in our community.

May 2023 was our busiest May ever and busier than any month last year. Thanks to loving neighbors like YOU, we are able to provide food, essential items, and most importantly a friendly place to turn to in a time of need!

Did you know that over 50% of local students depend on free and reduced-price school breakfast and lunch? Our schools are considered high-poverty districts. When school is not in session, many parents rely on us to feed their families.

In the past year, we provided 116,132 meals worth of food to children in our community. This summer, our annual Lunchbox Kids fundraiser will allow us to continue to ensure no child goes hungry!

A huge thank you to Long Island Cares for providing us with USDA Pack It Up for Kids weekend meal bags during the school year. Each care package has provided 6 ready-to-eat meals for children to have over the weekends. During the Summer this essential program will be on hold until the next school year begins, but we will step in and purchase food to continue to provide extra meals to local kids!

Later this week the Southampton Intermediate School will host their annual Run Against Hunger to help us. To join these great young supporters, you can give online today.

Last year, the SIS students raised $5,416. Let's help them to surpass that! All the donations they are collecting will go a long way to help feed their classmates this summer!

The future is bright with these caring kids!

Our Assistance Program serves local families and seniors all throughout the year. We are happy to see that many of our customers have started working more, but if they fall on hard times we will be here.

Here are but a few examples of what support our Assistance Program provided in the past month:

  • Paid an outstanding medical bill for a young mom just diagnosed with breast cancer
  • Purchased clothing and bedding for a homeless man who is sleeping in his car
  • Paid a security deposit for a single mom that found a year-round apartment and can move out of the winter rental she has been in.
  • Paid rent for a senior couple who are living on disability and battling cancer
  • Arranged for a week of childcare for a single mom who is waiting for her child-care benefits application to go through so she can keep her job

4. How does one register for the food pantry?

One can register ahead by calling our office (631-283-6415) to speak with our bilingual staff. New customers are welcome to visit during food pantry hours- Wednesdays and Fridays from 10AM-12PM. Upon arrival, they will be asked to fill out a registration form and provide valid identification. This form is used solely for reporting numbers to the food bank so we receive enough food to feed our customers.

Our mission is simple - to help people in our local community who are in need with dignity and without discrimination. For the past 43 years, we've been able to do that together. We thank you!
